Breech at twenty eight weeks- should I worry?

Not worried really, imagining could turn several times before delivery. But I've not had this before, dc 3, and just wondering if I should do anything or panic just a little bit!!

Don't worry! I really don't know why they tell women at 28 weeks given it's pretty meaningless. If you'd had the midwife appointment a day earlier or later the baby might well not have been breech. And it might not be now.

You might find this thread useful.

You are forbidden to panic! Grin.

Nope, plenty of time, dd2 turned at 35 weeks, dd3 (7 weeks today!!) at 36 weeks. I didn't do any of the exercise/maneouvres that are recommended, just kept fairly active, running after the other 2 and she turned herself. With dd2 I felt her turn (not overly pleasant) but had no inkling with this one, actual went for scan with consultant to discuss birthing options and she was right way up Grin Good luck, three children is an absolute joy Smile

Absolutely no need to worry- still loads of time!!!

They don't tend to take any notice of breech presentation until at least 33/34 weeks. Mine was breech and turned at 35 weeks......only 3-4% of ALL babies are breech at full term! So it would be very unlikely...

Aha - I was just about to link to the thread I started a couple of weeks ago on this so thanks wigeon Grin

I'm not panicking anymore - the stats are very comforting.

I'm 34 weeks and breech. The midwife WAS a bit concerned but has given me a scan for when I hit 35 weeks. Hoping it'll change by then! Are there any exercises that help?

glendathegoodwitch · 06/04/2011 09:39

the best thing you can do is get on all fours with bum in the air higher then head!!!!! try and not to spend a lot of time sat reclining on the sofa - this makes it harder for baby to turn - sit on birthing ball or on an upright chair!!!!

fingers x'd bubba turns!!! does your hospiltal offer ECV's??? not hugely affective but on odd occasions can help!!!!

Lookandlearn · 06/04/2011 11:02

Thanks glenda! Will do! Get breathless reclining anyway so best on all counts.

By the way, did some reading and apparently 20% are breech at 28 weeks, and as above 3-4% at term so one way or another over 80% of 28week breeches turn. So whilst I will do what I can I might not waste time panicking!

hi, at least one (possibly both-terrible memory for some things) of ours were breach or transverse at some point, both turned in time-your whole tummy moves, it feels and looks really strange-like the whole of baby is on one side and you have a flat tummy on the other side, then moves a bit more again-the 'process' only took a few minutes, but was funny (haha funny) for my husband and i 2 watch as we lay in bed in the evening!
you'll b fine, plenty of time :-)

Lookandlearn · 06/04/2011 21:12

Thanks. I do seem to have some pretty dramatic movements in the evenings. Maybe little one is doing early gymnastics. I wasn't surprised was breech because with neither of previous pg had there been such an obvious poky lump at the top, which I assumed was a head or bottom. Now I guess it's the head. Tonight am sure it's transverse. Bump seems wider and flatter. But I am no midwife!

You have lots of time! Some thread buddies have had this problem but I think most have turned now at 36 weeks and they used this;
