Triple test results

Had a bit of a shocker through the letterbox today. Am 25, 18 weeks pregnant with my second and took the test as part of routine bloods. The results came back as 1 in 251, which I know is not high risk (am told the cut off is now 1 in 150) but still a lot higher than expected for my age. Nhs won't offer any more tests as categorically "low risk" but I can pay for something called a Quad test privately. I think my first baby was a 1 in 1250 risk or similar so this has come completely our of the blue. Don't really know what I want to say, just in an unexpected spin and don't want to worry family and friends by harping on about it, especially when there is a fair chance I'm worrying for nothing and there isn't anything proactive I can do in the meantime.

I'm sorry for your worry. If the NHS don't class it as low risk, you probably should try really hard not to think about it. I know that doesn't help, and it's easier said than done, but they have their ranges of concern for a reason.

Shouldn't you be having your 20 week scan soon anyway? That should hopefully put your mind at ease.

Have you seen this board www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_tests_choices all about antenatal tests like the triple test? People on there might be able to help more. HTH
