Hi ladies,

I've just joined Mumsnet because i have a question that i'm hoping you can help me with!

Me and the OH started using the CBFM for the first time last month. We did the deed on a few highs and a peak day. For the past 3 days the monitor has been flashing M - so it's telling me AF should be here, but nothing.
For the past week i have been feeling nauseous, for the past 2 days i have been dry heaving when i wake up and hot flushes, eating dinner and still hungry. I've noticed that i'm feeling even more tired than usual, can sleep for 9 hrs and wake up and want to sleep some more. Last night i had a totally restless sleep and actually woke up overheating and thought i was getting the flu coz my body was so hot. Woke up this morning feeling very nauseous and heaving a lot.

The one thing i don't have is sore boobs, or even any darkening of the nipples. I've been on the internet all morning trying to find out if this is ok but nothing! So over to you! In your experience, are the boobs and nipples a definate positive?
I don't want to take a test yet because i have a feeling i may be making it up in my head or something and am convincing myself that i can't be because i have no breast symptoms. Is this right?

Also, is it too early to test today (3 days late)?

Thanks in advance!
x

YOu sound exactly like me! I waited two weeks before I did the test cause I felt that it was just too much of a coinsidence with my new job! My boobs have been sore on and off and defintiely not any darkening. Period like cramps on and off unfil today - I reckon I am six weeks! DO the test! I was so surprised that the stick was actually showing up positive before I have stopped weeing!! I know the feeling of wanting to hold off just in case - there is nothing like that feeling of all consuming disappointedness however the sooner you know the sooner you can start looking after yourself! And I had the dry heaving too!!!!

loueytb3 · 05/04/2011 15:03

Noodles - if you are like me, eating helps the nausea. Whatever you fancy and often...

Good luck!

LouisaJF · 05/04/2011 15:27

We said that we wouldn't do a test until I was a week late, but by two days late I couldn't stand the wait and it was positive. It's best to do the test and know for certain one way or the other.

I agree with Louey, I've got MS now, and I find eating the one thing that appeals at the time is the best thing for it. If I go without, I feel much worse.

Cattleprod · 05/04/2011 15:38

I find thinking about eating worse than actual eating, nausea wise. Also if I'm distracted by the telly or a book etc., I can eat a lot more without feeling sick!

Hope you get the result you want!

eastegg · 05/04/2011 16:18

Noodles, I'm 14 weeks with my second and have bored a fair few people on MN with my cries of 'am I the only person not to have sore/enlarged breasts?' Honestly, they were exactly the same i.e. really small and not remotely sore for about the first 11 weeks at least, and are now a bit bigger. Never had sore breasts with my first either, although they did get bigger sooner. So please don't spend your time breast-symptom-spotting as I did, just get on and do the test as you seem to have a fair few other quite convincing symptoms!

Noodles81 · 05/04/2011 18:26

I just did the test and it was negative!?!
Weird, i'm still heaving and not feeling right. Could it be i ovulated and no period and my body is going mental? Or maybe i am just gonna be late!!!

Firawla · 05/04/2011 18:47

test again tomorrow or in a few days if you've still not come on, you never know it might show up positive then?
try the early morning testing just incase it makes a difference

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 05/04/2011 19:12

Test again! I was a week late before I got a positive... like you, I was fairly sure I was pregnant...

Noodles81 · 05/04/2011 22:32

But is it possible that the test would be negative after 3 days but then be positive? Has this ever happened? Also how accurate is the cbfm? When it said I had 2 peak days and I ovulated is that for certain? Could it have got it wrong at all?
I wonder if the thinking about it has delayed af and it's on it's way?
I just don't feel right and tho I've been irregular before I got the monitor so I would know what's goin on and I was relieved when it said I ovulated. This baby making thing is long!!!

PoppysMom · 06/04/2011 04:07

Noodles, it could be that you ovulated late and that the hGC has tu build up first, so do another test in a couple of days and keep us posted.
Good luck!

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 06/04/2011 04:58

Thinking about it can't delay AF. Your luteal period (the time between ovulating and period arriving) doesn't vary much. What can be delayed is ovulation, which then shifts the LP back, which is what happens when you have an unusually long cycle.

That said, I had a false negative with this pregnancy, and then (obviously) a positive when I was 4-5 days late, so it could still happen.

kirrinIsland · 06/04/2011 05:05

It is possible to get a negative after you're due and then a positive later, and your symptoms sound promising but don't forget you've only been using the monitor for a month. It hasn't got to know your cycle yet and so will be working to the "average" - once you've used it for a couple of months it will use the data collected to more accurately predict your highs and lows and when AF is due.
There is CBFM users thread on here somewhere......

kirrinIsland · 06/04/2011 05:25

Here

Let us know :)

Noodles81 · 06/04/2011 07:22

Thanks everyone. Woke up this morning with the sick feeling in my stomach again even after I went to the loo.
I'm late by 4 days now so I'll wait till gone a week and try again. I am getting a little concerned because if the monitor was correct and I did ovulate on day 21 & 22 and af doesnt come I wonder if there's something dodgy going on inside. I mean if that could happen.

OP posts:
Noodles81 · 06/04/2011 14:12

I called cbfm today and they said flashing m means get ready for af. Tomorrow will be 16 dpo so I think I'll wait till end if next wk and try. They said the monitor is 99% correct so I must of ovulated!!!
Grrrrrr it's so frustrating!!!!

OP posts:
nickelbabyhatcher · 06/04/2011 17:28

there's every chance you've got a bug, and the stress of that on your body is delaying AF...

PinkFondantFancy · 06/04/2011 18:02

noodles even though you got a peak, it's still possible you didn't ovulate till quite a few days later. This is sometimes caused by stress or illness like nickle says. If AF rather than a BFP turns up this month ( obviously hoping for a BFP instead!!!) try temperature charting next month-by doing that as well as CBFM you can tell when you definitely ovulated. The CBFM can only predict ovulation, you need something else to show you definitely have. Hope this helps!

PinkFondantFancy · 06/04/2011 18:03

Oh sorry nickel said that stress could delay AF. It can delay ovulation too.

Noodles81 · 07/04/2011 00:17

Ok so it Predicts ovulation but that doesn't mean it defo came?! So what's th point Of it?! So therefore it could even mean I didn't ovulate at all??

OP posts:
PoppysMom · 07/04/2011 02:17

In theory, yes.
Unfortunately all you can do for now is wait and see.

Keep us posted though and good luck!

PinkFondantFancy · 07/04/2011 06:28

Sorry noodles didn't mean to stress you out!! Don't stress, you most likely did ovulate, just maybe a couple of days later than you thought. They are still helpful because they help you predict when ovulation is coming. If you're only temperature charting you can see when ovulation happened, but by then it's too late because you've already ovulated!

PinkFondantFancy · 07/04/2011 06:47

Or maybe you did ovulate when you thought but your BFP is a slow burn that will show up in a couple of days, fingers crossed!!

Noodles81 · 12/07/2011 09:01

Hi guys,

Just wanted to say that i'm pregnant!!!!!!

I joined Slimming World and wasn't sure why i wasn't loosing any weight despite following it to the book and doing Zumba every day. I eventually started going off certain foods and smells made me sick. I thought Slimming World had damaged me!
I then actually started throwing up - my whole dinner one night, first thing in the morning the other days. Called NHS direct and was so worried there was something really wrong with me. Called my doctor in the end and thought bite the bullet and tell him you have fertility problems and he told me to go for a blood test to check hormone probs and to come in.
The next day i thought lemme just do a test to rule it out if he asks. Got a digital one and left it on the side for ages CONVINCED it would say what it always did - not pregnant. I turned it over and to my amazement it said pregnant 3wks+!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't stop shaking and crying i couldn't believe it! Nurse reckons i'm 11wks but i don't think i am as i have irregular periods and defo not a 28 day cycle...but i'll see when i have a scan!!!!
I can't believe i'm talking about myself, when i speak to the nurse and she asks when the baby is due i keep thinking they're talking about someone else i have to pinch myself.

Just wanted to say have faith, anything can happen at any time just stay positive and don't stress about it! When it wants to happen it will!

Mega mega baby dust to you all
xxx
