22 weeks and haven't felt baby move yet... should I be worried?

I'm 22 + 1 and still waiting to feel my baby move. At 20 week scan everything was fine so I think I am probably worrying over nothing but want to get some second opinions. Is this normal? Am I ok to wait until my next midwife appointment at 25 + 3 or should I do something before if I still haven't felt anything?

I am quite a busy person, not overweight, my bump is quite squishy is it likely there's lots of fluid and that's why I am feeling less? Also it's my first pregnancy I've heard this can make a difference too.

Yes, it does usually take longer to feel first babies moving. It also took me a while to realise that what I was feeling was my baby with my first. I had been feeling a sensation for a while, but it took a while to realise what it actually was, if you see what I mean. They are tiny flutters like little bubbles to begin with.

If you want some reassurance why not call your midwife for a chat? They'll soon put your mind at rest or ask you to pop in for a check up if they think there is cause for concern.

It is not unheard of - the first time I was sure I felt anything was around this time with my first pregnancy

Having said that, if you have any fears or concerns do contact your mw, that is one of the things she is there for

Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy

I don't think recognised DD moving until after 22 weeks. Looking back I had felt her earlier but hadn't realised what it was. I think you should go to see your midwife anyway to put your mind at rest, she won't mind, it's better to be over cautious then spend weeks worrying.

I think it also depends on where your baby is lying and where your placenta is. If the placenta is at the front it can cushion the movements. I didnt start to appreciate i could feel baby until 22 or 23 weeks and even then it was very subtle.

Really cold iced water drink and something sugary may help to get some movement. Try not to worry, easier said than done i know.

Have a look on your notes and see if they've written anterior next to the bit about the placenta. If so it's quite normal to not feel anything yet.
I'm 21 weeks with baby no 3 and still can't feel it moving.
I have had my scan last week and all was fine so I'm not worrying.

I didn't feel any movements until 24wks due to an anterior placenta.
