you could get someone else to do it for you if you don't have time?

Am 36 weeks, I tried it once a couple of days ago, after the NCT teacher swore by it- Hated it, could barely reach, for it to be effective!!!! How can anyone reach by this stage of pregnancy???

Really would love to try ANYTHING that may save me from a tear, but have given up already! I am RUBBISH!! Grin

TerrysNo2 · 02/04/2011 23:06

Oh my god, I used this stuff and did nothing for me, was a royal pain in the butt - literally!! Grin

Still had to have an episiotomy!! And its not the worst thing in the world anyway, I won't be bothering with this stuff this time.

RhiRhi123 · 03/04/2011 17:59

It's just a money spinner IMO. I put a few drops of normal plain old baby oil in my bath and that works it softens my skin and helps to stop the bloody itching! If i'm feeling geneous i let my DH rub some on 'down there' he thinks as hes helping me not to tear it's entirely for my benefit but i know he enjoys it as he is usually waiting with the bottle when i get out the bath lol Grin

RhiRhi123 · 03/04/2011 18:00

i meant the itching on my bump! not 'down there' lol and also meant generous*

saldoozer · 03/04/2011 18:50

I have been a bit sore and tender down there and the gel does seem to soothe it. We'll have to wait and see if it has any other effects.

I couldn't even reach my bloody perineum at 36 weeks. After ds1 was born the first thing I said was "did I tear? I wasn't too sure where the perineum was so I just aimed for that direction". The MW found this hilarious. BUt I didn't tear and I didn't use it religiously...!

G1nger · 03/04/2011 19:42

I hear it does the same thing if you use olive oil? Perineal stretching (arrrg) is more what I'll (he'll) be aiming for. Oh so romantic... That's months away yet, but it's on my radar. I'll try anything to avoid stitches... Then again, I'm willing to bet my mother (four children - no stitches) didn't do any of this.

Marabou · 03/04/2011 20:15

Can you not just use olive oil or baby oil or vaseline...?

lou11376 · 04/04/2011 10:32

I got some but only because I got some vouchers- I would have used almond oil otherwise. Applying it twice a day is ok actually- I just do it when I get up and when I go to bed.
It's probabaly just cashing in on our fears of tearing down there! Whether it works or not...who knows...will hopefully find out soon enough!
