Hello all. I am 31 and expecting my 1st child in November. So far apart from having multiple positive pregnancy tests (keep doing them to check I am still pregnant) I do not seem to have any real pregnancy symptoms that I cannot explain with something else. My 'symptoms' are:

  • tirednesss (could be oversleeping or the fact that I have got used to being lazy)
  • put on weight (less exercise and not doing much but still eating the same)
  • bigger boobs (due to the weight gain?)
  • sore boobs (psycological)
  • bad skin (i get bad phases normal)

I am really starting to worry that something is wrong. Are any other people not having any symptoms after 8 weeks? I know I don't want morning sickness - I just want to feel something!

I think all of the things you mentioned above are "feeling something"! Add to the list above - sick all the time and you have mentioned almost every symptoms I have had for the past four weeks.
I am 32 and due to have my first child in October.
Have you booked a first midwife appointment yet?

Don't worry Laura the sickness symptom will come I'm sure. So will the lack of appetite and the constant need for food!! Enjoy and congratulations! xx

Yes - seeing the midwife next week. At the moment I am quite excited about it but not really sure what to expect. How did yours go for you? Have you had your first scan yet?

I am sort of impatient to know that everything is ok so that I can tell people. I am so not a fan of lying to people about why I am not drinking, why I am not in the gym all the time and why am taking an appointment in the middle of the day to go to the hospital. (Not good on a work trip a couple of weeks back when I was faced with explaining why I didn;t want wine or to share their platter of pate and soft cheese!)

Congatulations to you too and I hope being sick isn't too terrible. x x

Hi Laura, Don't worry! I didn't know I was pregnant until 24 weeks, because I didn't have any "pregnancy symptoms" I was the same as you though. Lots of symptoms which I now think probably were pregnancy symptoms...i put on weight, i was shattered for 3 months before christmas, tummy trouble. BUT critically no morning sickness or anything else that screamed "YOUR PREGNANT!" Just go with the flow and be glad you aren't puking all the time!

Renaissance227 · 01/04/2011 16:39

I've had very good and very bad days with the sickness. Can't wait until it goes completely!

Had my first midwife visit this morning and it was very straightforward. We filled in forms, then I gave blood and urine, was measured and weighed, and then she gave me some general information leaflets and a number to call for the scan. Apparently I have to wait a week before I call and book the first scan. The notes you fill in go with you everywhere apparently. It definitely makes things seem more real.

I know what you mean about lying because I am doing the same. Can't wait until I've had the scan and everyone can be told, especially seeing as I have a bloated tummy, which makes me look pregnant already!

I had exactly the same symptoms as you in early pregnancy. Felt a bit sick rarely/if I was hungry but mainly just so so tired and sore boobs. I stressed all the time about the lack of MS but only 50% of women actually vomit, another 25% are nauseous, another 25% nothing. So relax, sure it's all fine.

saoirse86 · 02/04/2011 12:44

I only found out I was pg at 8 weeks. I'd only had sore boobs and wanted to kill DP a lot of the time! Grin

I was only sick twice during pregnancy and never felt nauseous. I also had lots of bleeding until about 14/15 weeks and was convinced I must have lost the baby until my first scan at 16+3. I now have a very healthy 6 1/2 month old.

Try not to worry about it, it sounds completely normal.

Congratulations! Smile

My friend knew nothing for 4 months until her mum said 'you're looking heavier, I think you're pregnant.' Total surprise to her and healthy baby - no problems at all. Good luck!

glitternanny · 02/04/2011 17:57

I'm due in nov too and have very little to say I'm pregnant! I'm tired (as normal) and have had periods of being really thirsty and sensitive boobs albut that's about all!

Doesn't feel real!

cowboylover · 02/04/2011 19:35

Symptom stopping in early pregnancy is as bad as the 2WW aint it?

I was totally the same at 8 weeks besides being tired I felt exactl the same as normal and didnt start feeling any diferent until 16 weeks when the sickness started!

I am now 33 weeks and doing fine so try and relax and enjoy your pregnancy Smile

muffins · 02/04/2011 20:03

Yep I agree it's awful when symptoms stop!

I'm 14 weeks today and my very few symptoms have disappeared so I don't look pregnant, I don't feel pregnant and I can't feel any movements yet...think it's natural to worry but sure our babies are all just fine

vickylou2004 · 02/04/2011 20:20

Hi, I'm just having a nosy on this board. I have 2 dd aged 6 and a half and 4 and with both of them at some point in early pregnancy my symptoms would come and go. I was just like you and really worried but it's understandable.

Just keep yourself well and enjoy it!

These posts take me back, I really enjoy reading them and would love to offer any advice if needed.

SconesForTea · 02/04/2011 22:33

Hi I didn't really have any pregnancy symptoms at all other than massive tiredness in the first trimester. Just a big, big bump. Count your lucky stars you're not sick, and enjoy your pregnancy!

JenniL1977 · 02/04/2011 22:44

Hey Laura, I was exactly the same (am 20+4 now, first pg). Thank your lucky stars you're not being sick, and go and work out what you're going to use on your spots in Boots, mine are just getting worse!
I fretted for weeks that it wasn't "normal" not to have symptoms - mw says actually loads of people don't get sick. It's only now that I'm being kicked by something that seems to be practising for being the next Bruce Lee that I'm starting to "feel" pg.
Be happy you're breezing through it and don't turn into a mardy psycho like i did :) although that's got much better since 12 weeks.
Good luck honey x

apricotears · 03/04/2011 22:39

We are just lucky Laura! My symptoms were pretty much identical to yours in the first trimester. I have had so many people telling me 'You're so lucky! I was so sick...' etc etc.

The doctor assures me everything is going well with my pregnancy, so I am trying to be grateful for the 'easy ride' so far (touch wood!)

On the down side, my skin has never been worse! Each day, I think to myself 'it will start to get better soon'; at 18.5 weeks, I am still waiting. Not quite the 'pregnancy glow' I have heard so much about, but really have nothing to complain about compared to what some women endure throughout pregnancy!

JenniL1977 · 03/04/2011 22:44

Apricot thank god you said that, I honestly thought I was the only one -my skin is shocking! and it's always been fantastic. Bloody hormones :)

mamaesi · 03/04/2011 22:44

With my first I didnt even know until 8 weeks and even then I was very tired sometimes but thats it. Whole pregnancy was a breeze. Count yourself lucky!

apricotears · 04/04/2011 02:45

No Jenni, you are definitely not the only one! My spots are hanging around for ages too- really inflamed, swollen and seriously sore to touch! Have tried everything- even resorted to old wives tales, like putting toothpaste on my spots (that was oh so sexy Hmm) and nothing has helped...

I agree, bloody hormones!

LauraInGuildford · 04/04/2011 09:08

Thanks everyone I feel much better now know it isn't just me. I guess I just didn't know what to expect and you hear about how horrendous some people can feel and I expected to feel something. I do feel very lucky and I am very greatful that I have been able to keep it from work as I have not needed to take time off sick.

The skin thing is horrendous - I thought that I was supposed to be glowing rather than acne - spent a good hour or so in boots reading labels and checking online whether it was ok when pregnant after realising that I shouldn't probably use my heavy skin clearing lotion and creams. Eventually settled on some chamomile and zinc toner and witch hazel gel.
