Should I have feet like balloons at 27 weeks?

Just wondering. 2nd baby, don't remember this with my first! They're all puffy and swollen, and I'm just checking in case it's something serious!

Not sure if this helps but I am 35 weeks and have had puffy swollen feet for a few weeks. Not all the time but quite often - soooo not attractive. I just thought it was another of the glamorous side effects of pregnancy.....

I think any kind of fluid retention can be caused by not drinking enough fluids, so make sure you're drinking plenty of water.

My pg yoga teacher tells us to point & flex our feet (while sat down with legs out straight in front of us) to help with this. Also arms up in the air & circle wrists if you get it in your hands.

Prob worth mentioning it to your MW on your next appt though.

You should check the symptoms of pre clamps and if you have any of them call your midwife

OK, thanks - seeing midwife next week. Does pre clamps happen this early?

Pre eclampsia can start from 20 weeks. Head ache, chest pain, and visual disturbances ( seeing stars) are all symptoms.

Sorry to hijack - I'm just wondering if doing exercise helps to avoid this problem.. or if we're all/most destined to have it at some point during our pregancies?

Mine are hideous - now 36 weeks - and all I can wear is Primark flip flops or size 6 shoes at a push (usually a size 4). I'm in the clear for pre-eclampsia, so just fluid retention.

As for exercise, I consider myself to have been fairly active throughout - swimming three times/week, biking up to 31 weeks, walking until it tgot too painful.

It really gets me down sometimes - my feet are like slabs of meat attached to the end of my legs (no ankles now to speak of). But then the little one kicks away and i know it's worth it.

Anyone know how long it takes for things to go back to normal after birth?!
