Hello all, I'm 5 weeks pregnant with DC2. I am having horrific cramps in my uterus and my lower back, I have tried a water bottle and some paracetamol, they've been happening for about 4 days. Could it still be implantation pains? There's no bleeding.

Horrific? You should raise this with your GP/midwife.

I've had these on and off since the beginning and I am now 15 + 6. i think it is normal.

LadyOfTheManor · 31/03/2011 19:44

Well I rang my midwife today and she said "oh it's normal, only if you're bleeding do we care take it seriously".

I had some cramping with ds1 but not quite as harsh/tight as these :( Should I just hang on a few days and see if they settle?

Sorry, I missed word horrific. I have baby brain. I think if they are severe you might be better getting checked out.

I believe the worry is that if the pain's bad enough, you could have an ectopic pregnancy. I've had pain too, but decided (correctly) that it wasn't bad enough to be that... I would push the issue, if I were you, if I felt that necessary too...

Ok well I'll see how tonight goes. It's a really really dull nagging ache as oppose to sharp pains. Thanks :)

Just a little something to mention (from my experience when my pain was bad, in the week that and after my period was due): try to avoid the temptation of having an orgasm. If you think the pain's bad now, wait until after that! ;)

LadyOfTheManor · 31/03/2011 20:20

Oh right, yes ok. That'll be easy I have a 1 year old in bed!

Sorry to hijack, but do you think the pain is worse with DC2? I'm 4 weeks and have been cramping today but I can't remember it being like this with DC1? I was wondering if it had anything to do with it being DC2 or emergency C section. (just usder 1 year ago)
Sorry to interupt OP. Hope you feel better soon.

LadyOfTheManor · 01/04/2011 07:57

That's ok. My pain is worse now than with DC1. BUt it seems to have eased off overnight. My boobs are much worse than they were yesterday so I'm obviously going through a "phase".

I found everything to be more intense with subsequent pregnancies. This is technically my fourth (one early mc, one DS, one late mmc). This time round the early cramps and niggles were worse, the sore boobs were even more sore (and still are at almost 17 weeks), the sickness and the tiredness were harder too.

If it keeps up then I'd definitely push to be seen if it was me. Sadly it seems that in early pregnancy the midwives and maternity units will only deal with the bolshy types who kick up a fuss, when I had bleeding at 8 weeks they refused to even see me, I ended up going to A&E at a different hospital where the doctor was that disgusted by their attitude that she rang them and gave them a mouthful. Your GP should be able to make a referral to EPAU though.

I went to the walk in centre one weekend with similar pains - they often coincided with needing to poo and would leave me feeling dizzy and faint as the pain was so intense. I tested clear for a UTI, and was told it was things 'knitting'. Fortunately they only lasted about a week/10 days and the cramps have been much more gentle ever since, so there is hope!

LadyOfTheManor · 03/04/2011 23:02

They've eased off apart from terrible back ache :(

Boobs are still sore, made worse with DS (13 mo) climbing all over me.

BUt the "knitting" has stopped. Thankfully :)
