Anyone else having trouble sleeping at night. I am having serious problems, getting to sleep and then staying asleep. It's making my working day really hard. When I wake up my OH snores too so getting back to sleep is even harder. I've taken to sleeping on the sofa most nights recently and its kind of depressing. I can't even sleep properly there either. Aargh

Hi
Just wanted to say I totally sympathise with you. I had a really hard time sleeping myself from about 15/16 weeks until a couple of weeks ago (I'm 26 weeks now). I felt the same - had a really hard time at work and even weekends were a struggle since we've been really busy seeing people etc.

Have you tried drinking some warm milk, taking a bath before bed, not having caffeine/too much sugar etc. in the afternoons? I never found a magic cure myself, it just kind of gradually got better. I started listening to a relaxation CD before bed as well, staying up a bit later than usual which I think helped some too.

This probably isn't very helpful but really hope you get a good night's sleep soon...xx

Yeah I've tried loads of different things. And I've given up smoking and caffeine entirely since the start of my pregnancy so its not that. I will try and stay up later if I can, but I get bored watching tv sometimes. God I'm in a grump aren't i! hee hee. Thanks for your reply though. It's good to know I'm not the only one. Good luck with your pregnancy too and thanks x

Hi Alice, your message could be my message. Have just got maternity pillow so will try that tonight and see if it helps. Have tried staying up later and slept ok but was knackered next day. I read before bed but get involved in books and want to finish them. Work in school so can be hard beng cheerful all day. A bath does help sometimes as you are warm and cosy when you get into bed which is nicer than warm and cosy just as you have to get up. Really hope you get a good nights sleep on Friday as if you can have a lie in on Sat it takes the pressure off. xx

Aaargh sleep, I'm knackered and yet can't sleep, have been this way through most of pregnancy and now 34 weeks. It's either that I wake up so many times to go to the loo, or that it takes a good couple of hours to fall asleep in the first place, or that I wake around 3 and then have to get up for an hour at least before I'm ready to go back to bed. On the plus side, I do sometimes get a bit of housework done at 3am. But I'm absolutely shattered and know it will only get worse when the baby arrives, eek Shock

I wake about 3, can't get back to sleep, then, get REALLY HUNGRY and have to have a bowl of cereal by which time it's 4am, and I have to get up at 7. Have got really tired now, but can't have a lie in tomorrow...

I'm in the club too. I just can't get comfortable. I keep waking up every 1-2 hours with aching shoulders, legs, neck, dead arms you name it it will wake me up by hurting. This morning by 4am i was so sore i had to sit up in bed until it was time to get up. Poor old Husband has been relegated to the spare mattress in the living room. But at least he can sleep there. I didn't go to work today because I was so tired. I think I might not go tomorrow either, everyone keeps telling me to take it easy so I think I will! :o I might try and call the midwife or make an appointment to see my GP though I can't really go on like this for much longer. :(
