How do you find the time/peace and quiet to monitor movements in 2nd and subsequent pregnancies?

I am stressing a bit, because at 32 weeks I still honestly couldn't tell you what my baby's movements are normally like, when they happen etc. Worried that I really wouldn't spot it if she went quiet!

I'm working FT, have a 3yr old DD, I really only notice movements when I'm lying in bed at night, but I think that is just the only time I get a chance to notice iyswim. A whole day can pass, and by the time I've worked, come home, seen to DD, done my work (teacher, so marking etc) it is about 10/11pm. So then I go to bed, and sometimes lie and feel kicks, other times I just crash out.

She does move every day (at that time), but I honestly couldn't tell you about the other 23 hours of each day! Do you think that is a problem?!

i'm 30+2 and i'm finding it really difficult to monitor my baby's movements. they are never regular. one night there can be lots of movement, next night hardly anything - i too work full time so hardly notice it during the day. all went a bit quiet over the past 2 days so i got myself checked out at the hospital today - it started kicked once they gave me a load of water. perhaps i've just got a sleepy one :)

Same here, DC2 and I am trying to notice whether or not s/he moves at least once a day, but not when.

Luckily I have another wriggler, so it's reassuring.

Don't they say a cold drink is a good way to provoke movement?

Yip a cold drink and something sugary is meant to do it, I think if u glug the cold drink it gives the poor wee soul a cold wake-up! Glad it is not just me then, feeling terribly neglectful and she is not even here yet. It certainly isn't on purpose, the days are just so busy they seem to fly past!

Snap! Also teach and have 2 little boys. Had a scare yesterday and was in hospital when they asked if baby's pattern of movement was the same as usual, I had to say I didn't have a clue what was usual or not, oops. Cold orange juice always seems to wake my babies up, so if I am worried, I do lie after drinking a big glass and monitor movements. I used to find at school that babies enjoyed music in assemblies etc, so used to feel movement then. Perhaps have a cold drink at lunchtimes and sit quietly in staffroom to see what you can feel? I guess if you do the same thing everyday you would start to get an idea of what is usual for you... How long do you have to go? I am 33 weeks and finish next week, phew!
