MAMAS AND PAPAS return policy??

I bought a baby snuggle blanket from Mamas and papas a couple of months ago.
Its been kept in a drawer untill today when i was washing all my baby items.
I just noticed that the stiching is coming apart on the snuggle, but i can't find the receipt anywhere.
It still has all the tags on it and the hanger, but i am not sure it they will exchange without the receipt and im bloody annoyed as it wasn't cheap, at £56.
Does anyone know what there policy is or if anyone has experienced the same issues as me.
I cant get through to a store as all the numbers seem to transfer you directly through to customer care and i can't ever get through and to top it off they charge on there 0845 number!!
Out of all the baby stores i've shopped through, this has got to be the worst!!
Excuse my little rant lol xxx

They won't give you your money back, but you could tell them it's a present from someone (like you return christmas presents).

Would that work better than me showing them the fault and asking for an exchange.?

I'd show them the fault, but they are notoriously bad at returns. Overpriced, style over substance imo, and I only shop at the factory shop.

Have a look on moneysavingexpert.com for your consumer rights. Don't have time to google the links just now but I'm sure it's on there. I would have thought that for faulty goods even without the receipt you should get at least an exchange or a credit note if they can't.

I would definitely do it as faulty goods rather than the present story.

sum04 · 29/03/2011 22:33

Will take a look, thankyou.
I wouldn't normally be concerned about taking back a faulty item to a store, but i've heard such bad things about Mamas and Papas recently and im starting to wish i never paid £85 for a baby swing in there as well. Thank god i decided against the pramette i originally had my heart set on.
Will def be steering clear of this store in the future.x

I had to exchange a wardrobe that was faulty, they didn't even question me and it came two days later! Depends on the staff though :(

Firawla · 29/03/2011 22:46

they should return it if its faulty, i dont see how they can quibble it but probs give you store credit not money back as no receipt?

vj32 · 30/03/2011 08:48

I've only had fantastic service there - had to get a refund on a deposit I paid for a pram and they didn't even question why just processed refund straight away. Delivery people are always great too.

As its obviously not been used then it is clearly faulty - take it back. Only thing is you might not get full price you paid if it is currently in a sale and you don't have the receipt.

missnevermind · 30/03/2011 09:03

I had a full refund on a pair of maternity trousers that came up longer than I expected. I had worn and washed them and did not have a receipt.
No problem whatsoever.
But when I bought them they had taken my name and address for the computer so it was all on the system.

samsmother · 30/03/2011 11:17

I lost my receipt so never expected a refund but they wouldn't even let me exchange

G1nger · 30/03/2011 14:01

I've heard from my sister that they do really good prams. Is their customer service enough of a reason to steer clear? Then again, I have a friend who could go with me, and who really, really doesn't take no from an answer from shops saying no to a refund... I wouldn't expect to have to pull out my big 'guns' ask him, though...

humph123 · 30/03/2011 16:23

I managed to return two swimming costumes without any problem.
if what you have bought is faulty, definitely take it back, it should last longer than 2 months.

trixie123 · 30/03/2011 16:32

you really paid £56 for a blanket? Whats it made of, gold? Even if it had been used, two months is not an acceptable time for something to fall apart.

sum04 · 30/03/2011 17:13

No sorry, i paid £48, just double checked.
Anyway still alot of money, but it isn't a normal standard blanket, its more like a mini quilted sleeping bag, that can be used in the cot, moses basket and buggy and converts into a playmat when needed.
It is really gorgeous, just not worth it if they all have faults, but going to try exchange it next week.
I guess it depends on the staff on the day....
