Hi there, I'm 28 from Bristol and expecting my first child in October. Just wondered if there was anyone else from Bristol who fancied chatting.

hello all :) I'm Bristol too though not born and bred, only moved here about 7 months ago because of university. (UWE)
I'm 20, training to become a teacher and have been with DP for 6 years this year. Grin
We're currently living in Kingswood but are hoping to move, does anyone have any suggestions of villages/towns just outside of Bristol and potentially closer to Bath that are nice?

I'm due august too, had ds in St M and it was great. went there becuase it was closest but going to Southmead this time because I live much closer to it now I've moved. Someone told me that birthing pool is more likely to be free at St M due to the proportion of higher risk births they have there but not sure how true this is.

Bumpy - Perhaps a mumsnet meetup is in order at some point then? I don't mind, although it'd probably need to be in the center because I am terrible with directions. Grin

I have a couple of friends in the area with babies, but no mums-to-be so far yet. It's my first baby so I'm nervous and terribly excited at the same time - 21 weeks along now.

Thanks Bumpybecs. I feel emotional every time I look at the scan! A mumsnet meetup is a great idea. I know a couple of blokes who have got partners that are pregnant, but don't know anyone else that is pregnant first hand. It would be lovely to meet some other mums to be. I'm on tenterhooks today waiting to find out if I've got an interview for a new job. I don't think I will have got it though, cos stupidly I told them I was pregnant, so they probably won't want me. I was trying to be honest, but think I might have done myself out of that one. I really need a job though as OH isn't working either (He's studying)

Oh yes a meeting up sounds really good. Any suggestions of when / where?

Good luck with your job Alicebw. Remember they cannot discriminate about you being pregnant and if you don't get the job they have to have very good evidence and reasons for not offering. If you are the best candidate you should get it whatever you circumstances. I know a little bit about Hr and employment law so drop me a line if you want any advice. Xx

In terms of where... I'm not sure. Starbucks is a popular spot for mumsnet meetups and there is one in Broadmead I think...? Near Accessorize, Ann Summers, the Galleries etc. I personally don't like starbucks but I can't think of a cafe that has room other than that.

Good luck Alicebw, and Bumbybecs is right - they are not allowed to discriminate you based on the fact you are pregnant.

Alicebw · 05/04/2011 07:44

Well they did discriminate on me. THey didn't givve me an interview the buggers. I've got an actual interview for another job today though. Woo. Just wait until I tll them I'm pregnant. It would b lovely to meet up. Maybe next weekend? Starbucks is a goo idea Yukana, but sorry you don't like it that much. I'm feeling really sad at th moment for no reason at all. Just want to cry all the time. Oh well I'm sure its just the hormones.
