Hi,

I read that chemicals can pass through my skin to my baby and I am wondering if anyone knows if Clinique is safe to use during pregnancy?
I am 6+6

Thanks

Hi Poppysmom, You'd have to use enormous amounts to have any effect!! There are chemicals in everything we use every day - please don't worry about silly things like this otherwise you'll turn into a nervous wreck. Sit back and enjoy you pregnancy xx

Thank you, Dartfordmummy :)

I'm using Simple and Johnson's baby stuff... just to be on the safe side!!

What Dartfordmummy said - keep away from the woo sites and organic beauty salesman who are trying to convince you that the KEMICALZ are harmful and what you really need to do is give them £££££ for their St. John's Wort, Aloe Vera and Lentil anti-stretchmark paste (home made). Smile

I once went crazy after reading an article about parabens and threw out all my Clarins & Kiehls (sobs) - I now know better.

You are just goin gto stress yourself out if you worry too much about stuff like this. People get very worked up but I think you have to be realistic - we're pretty resilient and strong otherwise the human race wouldn't have survived this long.

What you might find though is that your skin will change and your previously fab clinique products don't work for you anymore. In which case, go down to a counter and ask their advice. they're used to helping women in situations like this.

Even "natural" products like Simple are still full of parabens etc. I try to avoid them but only because I have very sensitive skin that gets dry and red - nothing to do with baby. Lloyds Pharmacy have a great range that is super cheap and has no parabens, mineral oils etc. The face wash was £1, or 4 products from that range for £3!

I do also really like Botanic Organics (online shop) and some Neal's Yard, but simply can't afford their prices at the moment.

Or - you can wash your face with olive oil. Rub some in, then rinse it off with warm water and a muslin cloth. Rub just a couple of drops in afterwards to moisturise. Really does leave it soft and is great before bed.

But as my GP said - anything that is used on my face has a long way to travel down there! Different of course if you are ingesting or inhaling something that enters your blood stream and could affect baby.

Thank you all for your responses.
I use the anti blemish three steps and so far it has been almost the same as before pregnancy. It's a tiny bit less efficient than I am used to, but that's not a problem.
