So glad baby is ok.

If you can, speak to your consultant & tell them how you were treated. I think its disgusting to treat a woman like that. I've called up the delivery suite before & they've told me to come in & put me on the monitor.
Good for you for going on at them & getting yourself checked out.

Sparklies · 29/03/2011 18:48

That's awful, they should NEVER have treated you like that. Your concerns were valid. All the time we are told to listen to our instincts as we know best, so they should never have done that.

You don't have to deliver there technically - just turn up somewhere else! They can't turn you away unless they're full. Not having faith in the team delivering you can cause all sorts of repercussions so I'd give it some serious consideration.

Glad to hear everything is okay though!

AppleyEverAfter · 29/03/2011 21:15

Well done for sticking to your guns until someone saw you. And glad everything's OK Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 29/03/2011 21:58

I am so glad you and your baby are ok. What a relief. I suspect it is highly unusual that you were treated so badly. I hope you do make a complaint, although maybe after your baby has been delivered, depending upon where you decide to do that.

StarExpat · 29/03/2011 22:02

Oh thank goodness!
Please do not let this experience put you off going in again if the same happens ever again over next few weeks. Just go in and demand to be checked. Forget what they say/think. Your healthy baby matters more. Best wishes on a quick delivery xx

I just wanted to say I had a similar experience with the staff on my prelabour ward but then labour ward itself was fabulous, they tend to only take you seriously if you are really aggressive which is not how I want to be.

shmoz · 29/03/2011 22:13

charleyxdee have you managed to find out any more information re your earlier posting on this thread? Hope you're ok.

claire87 phew, thank goodness. How awful though that you were treated like that, I would speak with your mw about transferring to a different hospital if possible, there are 3 in my area and I'm sure I could have changed my mind at the last minute if I had wanted to.

WanderingSheep · 31/03/2011 11:48

Oh thank goodness everything is well with the baby! I'm so angry, on your behalf, of how they treated you - yes, thankfully your baby is fine and was likely to be so but you only have to search the archives here to know that this is not always the case! Your baby could have been in distress and they were reluctant to monitor you? Angry Angry I would definitely be complaining if I was you.

The hospital I had to go to is known for being busy, discharging people because they don't have enough beds etc. But they couldn't have been nicer telling me to please please don't hesitate to go back in if I noticed any change again!

Glad you're both OK, good luck with the birth and congratulations! Smile

Claire, glad your baby is ok been lurking with baited breath! I had reduced movements almost 5 wks ago at 40+6 unfortunatley my baby girl had passed away. SO please please anyone with reduced movements go get checked out. I dont want to scare anyone but would like to raise the awareness.

serendipity16 · 31/03/2011 13:42

jane I'm so sorry for your loss.
I lost my daughter at 35wks & only knew something was wrong when i felt no movement which is why i kinda get worried for other people when they say they haven't felt baby move.
If you need anyone to talk to Jane, please contact me x

claire87 · 01/04/2011 10:00

Reduced movements towards the end of pregnancy is not normal, or to be expected and should always be checked out. It's terrible that your midwives weren't sympathetic Claire, I'm totally shocked. I think I went in 3 times in the last two weeks of my pregnancy!

For more info, check out Count The Kicks here , some horribly sad stories but the message is very clear.

I definitely think you did the right thing insisting to be seen, who cares if they think they have better things to do, they're not better for you! Glad all is ok!

StarExpat · 01/04/2011 11:16

When I felt decreased movements with DS, I waited a couple of hours, worrying a bit, and then my waters gushed broke.

So I assumed it was a sign of imminent labour and that no one had ever told me about it.

But I also know (now) that it can be serious.
