Confused: Pregnancy diet & PCOS

Has anyone with PCOS and is/has been pregnant been given diet advice?
I was told briefly during a private scan yesterday by the doctor that my diet could harm the baby (special k, Jackets & fruit; all harmful)

I have never been told any of this in 8 years been diagnosed, even through 1st pregnancy.

The doctor says I should follow alow GI diet and fruit is limited and no snacks. This conflicts with the standard advice and left me very confused & worried.

Can anyone else share experiences of diet advice with PCOS whilst pregnant?

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I went for investigations when taking so long TTC this baby though I always suspected I had it. I have never been told anything about eating a specific diet or avoiding certain foods either before or during pregnancy. I eat breakfast cereal and fruit most days and jacket potatoes regularly and probably lots of other things the OP's specialist would have said were harmful though I don't know anything about what the GI diet involves. I have not seen any kind of specialist during the pregnancy because of PCOS. I am under consultant care for other medical problems, but PCOS has never been mentioned by as an issue by the drs I have seen. However, at my antenatal class I met a lady who said she was under a consultant and having scans every 1-2 weeks because she has PCOS, which made me wonder if I and my medical team were missing something. I didn't even know that PCOS increases the risk of gestational diabetes. At my last clinic appointment I was told I had glucose in my urine but, as I was unsymptomatic for diabetes, I should just see if it happens again and will maybe need a glucose tolerance test if it does, so will just wait and see what happens when I see my midwife on Wednesday.
