Matching clothes: mum & baby??

Yes, I know how horribly tacky this is BUT I want to find some matching clothes for me and my baby to wear. DH will probably hide from us. Anyone know where to get them?? Making my own is completely not an option.

Not so much tacky as naff. Why do you want to? There is a website that does T shirts for adults and babygros with the same slogan on - its called twistedtee.com I think. but don't. please.

lolajane2009 · 24/03/2011 17:48

I wouldn't do it but if i was you I'd tell hubby he has to match too or stay at home....

sorry in the mood for mischief today

stooopidquestion · 24/03/2011 17:50

O god no. But if you must, I remember H and M used to do Bfing t shirts with a matching little babygro.
But really,
DON'T

longislandicetea · 24/03/2011 17:52

Zara do lots of clothes and shoes that match mummy and me style. Wouldn't do it myself but my friend does and she gets lots of lovely things from there. She had beautiful sandals for them both last year.

G1nger · 24/03/2011 17:55

Why....? I suppose you could get a t-shirt designed that you could both wear? That's if you really insist!

Bobby99 · 24/03/2011 18:10

Err, no.

marie14 · 24/03/2011 18:14

i wouldn't deliberatley go out to find matching outfits, but bought a dress from debenhams an there saw an identical one in mothercare! was all set to buy it but found out we're having a boy :( lol i think it can be cute as long as its complimenting rather than matching... x

oggybags · 24/03/2011 18:29

not on the highstreet to full pint / half pint t shirts if you must
I'm not at all sure this should be advised though...

architien · 24/03/2011 18:44

I wouldn't do it everyday but just because I liked a munroe dress with sailor suit-ish bits to it I also came up with the idea of buying a nice sailor suit for my son to wear for his baptism. It just so happened that way...I don't give a hoot if anyone thinks it's naff or silly. We looked great and I enjoyed us sort of matching on a special day :)

wishwales · 24/03/2011 23:32

Thanks for those of you that actually answered my question.

I was asking for help and not judgement. I am shocked by how many people were rude or mean. First time I have experienced this on Mumsnet. Disappointing...

wishwales folk sometimes like to be misery-guts don't they..ah well brush it off and just think how lucky you are to not get your happiness from telling other folk that their ideas don't conform. Lucky indeed, because it'd be a very dull world if we all had the same view! Most MNeters are lovely and you're very welcome so do post again :)

notmyproblem · 25/03/2011 10:10

Rude or mean? I didn't find their responses that at all.

Maybe you should be a bit less sensitive. Better work on that before you and your baby dressed like two peas in a pod head out into the real world and get laughed off the street for looking "tacky"as you put it. Grin

wishwales · 25/03/2011 11:06

Thanks architien

Do it! Do it! I think it's a lovely idea. I would definitely do it with my daughter and indeed my mum had our whole family in matching dungarees and jerkins (she was a fabulous dressmaker though)

If you can't find matching outfits, how about matching scarves or other accessories?

G1nger · 25/03/2011 12:14

I'm going to assume you think my response was helpful, because it was. Matching t-shirts! You could totally do that.

stooopidquestion · 25/03/2011 12:16

Looby, was your mother Maria Von Trapp?

Loobyloo1902 · 25/03/2011 16:38

stooopidquestion My parents watched a lot of the Good Life and took every word as bible. We may have looked a little odd but when you throw in the 2CV, goats, chickens and the endless homemade chutney, a picture starts to emerge Blush

nickelbabyhatcher · 25/03/2011 16:47

sorry, wish - you were right in your OP, it is tacky.

It's not a good plan.

can't answer your question, though, don't know where you get them.

I think it's a really cute idea, but then again I dress up as Disney characters for fun and have a storytelling cloak for work.

I think http://www.thekidswindow.co.uk/html/results.asp?subcat=536 is lovely, as I like chess.

DeathMetalMum · 08/01/2013 12:58

Mothercare usually have one matching item online. It is usually just a slogan t-shirt and vest.

katjax · 20/01/2014 05:04

Brilliant. I'm going to do the same! 1: because I love my little girl so much and what a great way to express that. And 2: because I want my daughter to look back on photographs with fond memories of her fun and loving childhood!
I think you're amazing!!!

I can't believe how mean people are being on this thread.

Do it, op. Enjoy your baby, have fun. People will find you adorable.
