BFP : Bloated Farty Preggo

Goodness I am so excited to be able to post on this forum! Have recently had a BFP (elated is not the word!) and have booked in to the docs for tomorrow morning. But being an early doors novice (I estimate I am between 4 and 6 weeks) I was looking for advice - I am BLOATED - Seriously my tum sticking out so much I look about 4 months, not 4 weeks. Is this normal?! I've had it for the last 4 days or so now. So weird, and a bit uncomfortable and I am desperately holding in farts at work at the moment. Any top tips would be hugely (the same as my belly) appreciated!

Yeah, that sounds right. Bloating and farting are both common during pregnancy. They haven't affected me hugely yet (13 weeks) but others on here are talking about them a lot. My suggestion: eat more fibre ;) but also get used to it! Congratulations, by the way x

TheFantasticFixit · 23/03/2011 11:33

Ah thanks G1nger, and the same to you too! And yes, my fibre intake is massively increasing as we speak!

Ha yep sounds familiar!! I went to my boss at 9 weeks to tell her I'm pregnant, and she looked at my stomach and said "I can tell - how many months are you" Blush Oh dear..... Grin

TheFantasticFixit · 24/03/2011 13:00

Oh Pink: This morning my assistant came to me and said 'oh my goodness, look! You are showing already, it's lovely' Blush

I had to gently tell her that it wasn't baby, it was just severe wind bloat!

Grin is it Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where one of the children gets all bloated like a massive balloon and floats away???? Hmm Grin

TheFantasticFixit · 25/03/2011 11:29

Haha I love the image of that.. I can just imagine myself floating away in this lovely weather! Grin

I was like this to begin with - you have my sympathies. I got so bored of people saying 'aw look at your baby bump!' when I knew full well that it was pure gas. But no-one believes you if you try to tell them that - one female colleague of mine (who has 2 children of her own so should know better) actually told me I was in denial about having a bump. And this when I was approx 14/15 weeks.

Other than eating well and drinking plenty of water, I'm not sure there's much you can do. I had this problem before I got pregnant as well, and I used to take charcoal tablets after meals, which seemed to help a little, but I don't know if you can use those in pregnancy so would definitely check that out first.

As my granny would say though 'where'er you be, let yer wind gang free' Grin

Oh, and congrats!

Serenajoy: (LOVE your name by the way, HT is one of my top 5) its so good to hear that other people have gone through this weird phase! I'm going to check out the charcoal tablets as it really is a bit embarrassing, and isnt helping me keep my pregnancy under wraps through these early days!
