Hi, I just wanted to know if you were given this Pregnancy Book by your midwife when you have your first appointment. Do you find it useful? Do you prefer to get your information and advise elsewhere?

Are you asking because you are pregnant Storm?

I like my pregnancy book. I got it at 12 weeks after my scan.

All of the information in the book is also on the NHS website
www.nhs.uk/Planners/pregnancycareplanner/Pages/PregnancyHome.aspx
It is reasonably useful but not an exhaustive guide - you'll have questions not answered there.

I'm sure I've heard of a book on pregnancy, now if only I could remember what it's called.........

Oh you mean the book that clarified that I can have steak as pink as I like it in the middle, so long as it's seared on the edges? Yes, I found that useful :)

Hi, we are expecting our first child in late June and a very good friend of mine suggested getting a book titles "Pregnancy for Dummies".

Yep, we are first time parents, but not complete dummies (no pun intended). However, I found this book really useful and informative without being patronising like some of the books we've received from our MW.

This is a good start, and it's got free delivery too.

lolajane2009 · 22/03/2011 22:54

theres a purple book published by the nhs called the pregnancy book. I assume this is what you are talking about. I got mine free at first scan from midwife

Thank you. The reason I asked is because I heard that the pregnancy book might not be produced in hard copies soon. If it is a really good source of information, I suppose we'll want to try hard to keep it.
