3 months PG with recurring migraine... Can I definitely NOT take 2 Anadin Extra??? Please advise :)

Since I can't take Migraleve or anything strong for my migraines, the only other thing that works if I take 1 or 2 at the start of the migraine followed by paracetamol is Anadin Extra... Is it really too dangerous to take 2 if I have a banging migraine? It is getting unbearable so I may have to go back to GP and ask for something on prescription but I am pretty sure they are really against this because my migraines aren't ALL the time but when it does come on it is agony and I just want to lie in a dark roomin silence which is impossible since I has 2 yo to look after...

I just can't find out how risky it would be to take the occassional Anadin Extra when things get unbearably painful....

Hi,

i went to the docss today to find out what i could take for my awful sinus pain. He was horrified that i took some asprin last night and this morning.

Aparently it has an effect on the placenta. Dont know if this is dependant on how far along you are - but i wont be taking it again! He said ONLY paracetamol was considered risk free ..... i feel for you xxx

I just want to add - isn't it about time 'they' came up with an effective bloody painkiller that a woman can take safely while pregnant? Instead of going to the moon maybe ???? Angry

i was told by GP I could take migraleve whilst pregnant, so i did.

Aspirin thins the blood, so steer clear.

I know!!! There is def a niche inthe market for effective PG painkillers but maybe it's too risky for them in case someone has adverse effects.

Thanks thisisyesterday I think I will ask the GP about migraleve since it really works and although the migraines last forever if I don't take the right thing, I am pretty sure I wouldn't have any if I could take something stronger at the outset...

OP have you considered cranial oestopath?

I had been getting headaches for months. Every morning my head was like a pressure cooker. It's sorted now after just one session

Codeine or cocodamol (paracetamol with codeine) is allowed very occasionally apparently - or so my dr said...

i was prescribed some 10mg codeine tablets a few weeks ago as i get migraines and headaches that last me upto a week at a time, the doctor said i could take 1-2 at a time, i have tried 1 a couple of times and they do work, felt fine but i only take when im absoloutly desperate, my preferred option is to sleep migraines off but i have 2 dcs already so not always possible. Go to your doctor and ask for some, it was the midwife who said i should ask for some.
