Just went for a hospital tour at King George's in Goodmayes - I am due in 4 weeks and I am quite confused now as I almost decided on Queens before today but I am not sure anymore...Could anyone share recent birth stories (good or bad) on either of these hospitals? Thank you all xxx

Be aware that King's will only take you for a first birth if everything goes pretty much by the book - no going into labour before 38 weeks, no waters breaking before your contractions start (like mine did). We had no idea this was a problem until we turned up to have them check my waters and were told that we'd have to go to Queens if nothing happened within 24 hours. We didn't even know where Queens was.

That said, the medical care during labour at Queens was very good, even though they were extremely busy. Not so taken with the after care, but I was kept in for four nights and was going a bit stir carzy/hormonal

King Georges left me with no midwife and I gave birth on the bed alone ( husband was stuck in traffic, so he said, i think he was scared!) The shower room was filthy and the midwives on the ward did not give a s**T. I am booked into Queens, due in a week so not too sure what their quality of care is like.

I had my baby last summer at Queens. I was considered high risk though so couldn't of had him at KGs if I wanted to!
I was very impressed with the care before and during labour. I could not have been looked after better. This wasnt the same case once up on the ward though but I think that has something to do with how extremely busy they are.

If you choose KG and then need a csection etc you will be taken to Queens.
At Queens, the high risk rooms are massive and transform into operating rooms if the need arises.
