Do I need to buy a new cot or is there a toddler bed suitable for a 13 month old?

My plan is to just keep the one pushchair and use baby carrier for new one, is this unrealistic? Have two pushchairs for when I go out with DH so would only be when I'm on my own.

Have no intention of buying new clothes etc, but is there anything I would really need two of that I might not have thought about?

Watching with interest as although not quite as close as yours, but will have a 16 month gap.

To be honest we are going to get a new cot as I feel it'll be too much on ds to arrive home with a new baby and kick him out of his cot. My dd was in her cot until she was 2! that said, someone with more experience may advise you better (I had a 4.5 gap between my first two so am a little clueless).

Am not getting a new pushchair - not a hope. Am thinking same as you - one in a sling, that said dh will be out with me mostly so have 2 pushchairs too.

Am just going to buy some white baby grows and vests for the minute. Wont need any clothes if this is another boy.

I had a 15 month gap and tried the no double pram thing, it lasted about a week. Baby in sling gets really heavy really quick and stops you being able to do stuff, toddler will still need to rest/sleep so can't forgo buggy for them either. Thats just my experience.

I use a baby sling with DS now as it is easier for holding DD's hand on the school run, I understand what you mean though it is getting rather heavy now.

Think we had decided a 2nd cot would be best to be honest DD was 18 months when she moved into a toddler bed so think I am being a little hopeful thinking DS will be in one by 13 months, but won't buy until this one has arrived as it won't need it for a few weeks.

I agree with the two cot thing - I know that at 13 months the chance of mine staying put in a bed would have been zilch.

Also, my first two were 2.5 years apart and I got a double. DD1 liked to nap in the day still so sometimes liked to hitch a ride. And the thought of always being tied to carry a baby is my idea of hell (but then I do have a bad back!). Unless you plan to be out rarely (ie once or twice a month) on your own I'd get a double buggy certainly.

Re anything else. I'm sure it'll be fine. Babies need very little anyway, don't they?!

For peace of mind I would keep the eldest in a cot for as long as possible. (was going to do 3 yo for DD1 but she outgrew the cot at 2.5).
Saying that my mum had BD, 14 months after me and since I was an escapist, I slept on a mattress on the floor until I fitted a bed, around 3.
I would probably sell my 2 pushchairs and buy an double one second hand, if I were you too.
Baby in the sling will be OK but what will you do with a 1 and a 2 yo? still carry one? I do still carry DD2 everyday but I don't think I could push at the same time (I don't have to)
BTH DD2 hated the sling, I had to wait until she was big enough for the ergo carrier around 6 months.

I have no experience of two close together, but I would think buying a double buggy should be top of your list. My DS (who is 3.4 yrs) still needs to be in a pushchair for anything other than short walks, so you've got at least 18 months where both will need to be pushed/carried by you. Do you really want to be carrying your younger child for all that time?

I have an 11.5 month age gap.

We bought 2 cots - I think 13 months is very young to be looking moving into a toddler bed. We used cots until they were 2 and they went straight into "proper" beds.

I would look at a double buggy for sure. It's so much easier than than having one in a sling. We used a P&T and it was fantastic - made life a lot easier, especially if you have to pick the older one up when you already have a baby in the sling. They keep their value well too when it comes to selling on.

I put DD in a toddler bed at 15 months so I could use cot for DS (18mth gap) as I wanted her to forget about "her" cot before DS was born and for her to get used to the toddler bed and learn to stay put at night!!

I used sling and single buggy for a while but TBH DS was too heavy for me by about 3 months so I got a double buggy which was much easier to get out and about with.
