I was convinced I good feel my DC2 from around 13 weeks. It felt a bit like flutterings - at the time I remember describing it as what I imagine it would feel like to have a goldfish flick its tail whilst swimming in my tummy. My daughter then turned out to be a bit of a livewire!

tiokiko · 18/03/2011 14:11

I definitely felt flutterings at 13w with DD - and she wasn't a whopper in case that's started you worrying!

littlemissw · 18/03/2011 14:19

I felt all 3 of mine really early - 16/17w, 10/11 w & 8 weeks this time. I thought i was going mad & it couldn't possibly be, but asked my MW & she confirmed that its totally possible to feel your baby that early. Enjoy - it is so reassuring. :)

chelstonmum · 18/03/2011 14:20

The whopper bit was getting my BP up! lol. My DS and DD were both small, 6lb and 6lb6oz but im glad to know I am not mad!

It feels a bit like the goldfish theory, and the bump was a bit of a live wire during the 12 week scan! Thanks ladies.

I was sure I could too, around 11-13 weeks. Then it went quiet for a while, and now I'm heading to 20 weeks it's all the time.

This is my DC2 and s/he was a real livewire in the 12-week scan too.

And I think I have a big baby this time. DD1 was tiny, but my 12-week scan indicates things are very different this time...heeeeelp!

marthamay · 18/03/2011 21:22

I felt my ds at 13 weeks. Everyone tried to insist it was impossible and just 'wind' but I knew it wasn't . Felt like I had a real butterfly in my tummy. You never forget that feeling!

WiiUnfit · 19/03/2011 10:00

Hi chelstonmum, I felt movements from 14 weeks (1st baby!) to the day so you're not going mad! :)

Hi i'm sure I have been with DC2 from 11 weeks, however now i'm 17+4 and bubs has moved up/out & the placenta is in the front of my womb it's all stopped, but at least hearing bubs we know all is ok.

LDNmummy · 19/03/2011 15:47

I have been feeling this for about a week now. DP has felt it once when pressing down on bump but hardly anything as it is too light although I know it is not gas and is something else. I'm 11+4 now, felt it again last night.

davidtennantsmistress · 19/03/2011 18:17

is it your first LD? i'm dying for dp to feel it as well.

Firawla · 19/03/2011 19:43

i felt like i could feel from about then with my ds2, and he was also quite a whopper but never realised that could influence it, and the same with this one felt pretty early. not proper kicks but just fluttering as you say

Snakeears · 20/03/2011 06:39

Me too - although could just be wind! Gold fish tail is a good description - I had assumed it was just muscles etc growning but it's funny! Especially noticable in the morning - prob because nothing else going on.

greedychops · 20/03/2011 08:34

I've definitely felt this baby move - I had been nervous about the scan as hadn't felt pg, but felt it move at about 11 or 12 weeks, only when sitting in certain positions, but absolutely positive it was the baby.

Mentioned it when I got my scan just before 14 weeks, and the sonographer said there was no way it's the baby, it would just be in the bladder, but I know fine it's not that.

This is dc3 - felt ds1 at about 16 weeks and ds2 at 13, and it feels like the same first flutterings.

LDNmummy · 23/03/2011 00:40

Hey davidtennantsmistress, just saw post. Yes it is my first, still feeling it too, first scan is tmrw so excited to see if I am right about this. DP has not been able to feel it since that one occassion as it is just too light and I know it is frustrating because I wish I could share it with him too.

It only happens to me in certain positions too and always around late evening, my sis said the baby will be more active then as walking around during the day lulls them to sleep so during calm evening time LO can be all go.

I can't wait to ask doctor tmrw, will come back and update.

kateepie2 · 23/03/2011 08:14

I'm 10+3 and I'm sure I felt something last night in bed, I was laying in an odd position and felt a sort of whiffling sensation in the lower left of my abdomen. Definitely not wind. Couldn't replicate it again, but I guess I might have been twisted around enough for my uterus to be nearer the surface... or it might be in my head Grin goldfish tail flapping seems to sum it up though, so you never know...

G1nger · 23/03/2011 08:23

13+4 and I've got nothing. But listening to you lot, I find I'm getting phantom itches now around my belly that make me think "could that be it? No. Give it a scratch..." ;)

BalloonSlayer · 23/03/2011 08:34

My old fashioned baby book (Gordon Bourne, anyone?) says that you feel the baby move at 19-20 weeks with the first pregnancy, and at about 18 in subsequent ones. He goes on to patronise say that "some women claim to have felt their baby move at 14 weeks."

I didn't feel my first two DCs move till well over 20 weeks. I was worried sick.

With DC3 I was 13 weeks and suddenly felt this incredibly strong sensation like a captured fish flopping about in my stomach! It was startling, amazing, wonderful, and definitely the baby. So yah boo sucks to you Gordon Bourne.

(And no he wasn't a big baby. And it wasn't because I knew by then what baby movements felt like; I would have known what it was had he been my first. It must be something to do with where they are lying)

theressomethingaboutmarie · 23/03/2011 09:07

This is a great thread. I thought I was going bonkers as am sure I felt flutterings last night (am 11 +1). I felt my DD move at about 16 weeks.

chelstonmum · 23/03/2011 10:04

I am finding the feeling really great for bonding, has been a week now and tends to be getting more regular, im loving it! x

Erm you can tell I'm busy at work :)

chelstonmum · 23/03/2011 16:01
