I'm trying to make light of this situation to get me through the night (currently 2.53 am, 20 mins after the incident!!) as it's either that or breathing into a brown paper bag for the next 5 hours!
I am 38 weeks and was diagnosed with high BP last week, admitted overnight for monitoring and tests and discharged with a prescription of Methyldopa. High BP issues still continue, had to go back to hospital today for more monitoring, discharged again, with a serious telling off about taking recommended dose of medication. Was making me feel really faint!
Anyway, just peed on a protein testing stick (what a compulsion at 2.30 am!!) to see that I now have +1 of protein in my urine. Freaking out for health of baby and myself, they scared the s**t out of me in the hospital today about having seizures with high BP.
Will phone hospital first thing in morning. Just needed to get it off my chest.

Anyone else done something very foolish during their pregnancy? Keep me company!

With dd1 I didn't know I was preg and did a tactical firearms course! Grappling in a training centre with big men, did no harm though!

trumpton · 18/03/2011 07:26

How are you this morning? let us know what hospital say.2.30 in the morning is a scary time.

Shipscat · 18/03/2011 07:26

Before I knew I was pg with DTs - pulling in a 7 ton boat against a Force 9 gale!

notasausage · 18/03/2011 08:41

Before I knew I was pregnant with DD1 - Skiing and sledging from the top of the mountain on a very solid wooden sledge - lots of crashes!

From 15 weeks - fully renovating a house then moving in. She was fine though!

FeralGirlCambs · 18/03/2011 08:47

Helping DH tile a big barn roof at 10-16 weeks. On the basis that I'm not given to falling off ladders at other times...

YogaMummy2B · 18/03/2011 10:17

Protein back to negative/trace this morning, just need to see MW to get BP checked tomorrow and keep an eye on things. Was a very long night!

On other news I drove a big long wheel base van which I had packed full of furniture to a roadshow affair with work at 10 weeks. Proceeded to unpack and set up a stand, pack it all up again and drive bloody thing back! Not my finest moment!

Before I knew I was pregnant with DS I was drinking, smoking, and guzzling liquid codeine that a Tunisia pharmacist prescribed me for a head cold.

At 25 weeks I fell over in the bath and instead of trying to grab something I tried to turn to get my hands under me, that just resulted in my whacking the side of my bump off the side of the bath.

While I was in labour the midwife sent me to the loo in the delivery room but said not to lock the door. First thing I did was lock the door. Had a massive contraction and was kneeling on the floor with a death grip on the sink, midwife couldn't get me to answer her and couldn't open the door, they ended up having to use the door release to take it off the hinge. And even then I refused to come out.

A friend of mine went motorbike riding at 33 weeks and crashed. Baby was fine but her ears were burning after all of the telling offs.

wishwales · 18/03/2011 11:40

I indulged in a load of raw oysters before I knew I was pregnant!!!

KirstyJC · 18/03/2011 11:44

I'm 38 + 6 and on Wednesday I spent a large amount of time standing on a chair putting Ikea furniture together and drilling walls/putting up curtain poles and the like. I got told off by the man on the till at B&Q when I went back for the second time yesterday and he asked whether my other half had finished the DIY - I told him it was me doing it and he was shocked!

I didn't dare tell him I am planning to sand the woodwork in the spare room today! Think the old nesting instinct must be kicking in, and I intend to make the most of it!!

When I was 30 weeks pregnant, we sold our flat in London, moved home to NZ home via Singapore and Sydney (just go for the hot countries, why don't you) with 14 month old twins. When we got to NZ and I saw my family at the airport, I actually cried. DH only finished work three days before we left.

spatchcock · 18/03/2011 12:14

Some of you sound pretty staunch with your sailing, heavy goods vehicle driving and skiing!

I am probably a bit stupid because I am eating everything that's put in front of me. Including all cheese, sushi and the odd glass or two of wine...

CBear6 · 18/03/2011 12:17

I'm eating last nights left-over mince and dumplings. My MW is very against reheating leftovers, even from the fridge. She'd make her frowny face if she knew.

Bloody lovely though!

notasausage · 18/03/2011 15:52

Forgot about standing on a 5 foot wall to cut the hedge at about 35 weeks - well I couldn't quite reach from the ladder Smile

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 18/03/2011 16:10

standing on the edge of a beer barrel with one foot, and on a very unstable chest of drawers about 2 ft away with my other, leaning in a third direction to reach the top corner of DS's bedroom with my paintbrush last saturday at 34+3.
Tomorrow I'm doing the rest of his room. :o

I eat leftovers all the time, from the fridge, from the pan or a bowl that has accidentally been left out all night. I can't help it. I'm hungry.

theonlyhb2 · 18/03/2011 18:03

i do the leftovers too, i figure my kitchen is so cold its like the fridge.....

i havent beaten the stupidity of getting pregnant and developing hypermesis just before my 30th birthday trip to Amsterdam et al :(

clarabella18 · 18/03/2011 20:04

Went ice skating at 5 months. Stupidly I knew I was pg. Blush

greenzebra · 19/03/2011 11:00

This might not be as stupid as some of your stories but last night was sitting on the pregnancy ball as I was uncomfortable and I got a bit carried away with the rolling and then bouncing on the ball and I bounced right off and nearly landed in the fireplace. Im 31 weeks! My husband just looked at me like I was a freak, picked up the pregnancy ball and put it in the other room. Came back in and gave me a really good Dad look! Nothing more was said.

YogaMummy2B · 19/03/2011 15:26

greenzebra love the Dad look.
I have been getting them all blooming week, seems I am not allowed to do anything much without getting one! Making a cup of tea is just about ok! It's getting very frustrating - but only another week or two to go, so I guess I had better relax.
DH came back from walking the dog earlier to find me half way through building an IKEA changing table, my allen key was removed and I was told to go and sit down!

I ran a marathon relay leg (5 miles) at 26 weeks pregnant.

Panzee · 19/03/2011 21:04

Demonstrated the hurdles (only small primary school ones!) during a PE lesson, 27 weeks with placenta previa. In my defence I had only been told it was "a bit low". Blush

DilysPrice · 19/03/2011 21:04

Fell down a flight of stairs when about 7 months pg (landing on my arse, not head first). DS is clearly a resilient little bugger because he didn't react at all. Stupid combination of boots with heels and very long jeans to blame.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 19/03/2011 22:08

With Ds, I was working with Hunters and heavy horses until I was 6 months pregnant. This included riding. The horse I was riding bolted. I couldnt stop him. I had to hang on for dear life for 2 miles. Thankfully, I was using an old cavalry saddle with a metal front to hang on to.
Also with DS, was involved in a car crash at about 32 weeks. I was a passenger, and until about two minutes before I had been knitting! Two minutes longer, and DS could have been born with piercings!!
With DD, at 36 weeks, I emptied the upstairs box room of out rented house of all the spare furnishings. This included sofas, wardrobes and beds. Moved them by myself all over the house. Including downstairs. On my own!

facefull · 20/03/2011 16:48

I got locked in a park one evening and had to climb a 6 foot fence to get out at 6 months. Luckily that was baby number one when I was younger, fitter and smaller bump. If it happened now I would be sleeping under a bush for the night!

feralgirl · 20/03/2011 16:55

I smoked a shit load of weed and drank a lot of wine before I found out I was pg with DS Blush

He seems OK though...

I also ate almost everything on the 'bad' list, and have continued to not follow the food guidelines one iota this time round. I figure the human race must be pretty resilient in order to have lasted this long.

NarcolepsyQueen · 20/03/2011 17:07

Scuba diving on holiday every day before I realised I was pregnant
