36 weeks, going in for general check up (all has, thankfully, been well so far) and going to ask if they'll release me back to midwife led care.

I'm 36 (years old), have BMI of 35 (which is the same as at booking in - all growth scans etc have been fine), had pregnancy hypertension last pregnancy but no sign this time.....so I intend to see how it goes and then calmly ask if they will (I'd love to try and have this birth without intervention) and if they say no, ask what medical reasons they have - can I do/ask anything else?!

Have been pretty much in denial to this point to not get stressed about it!!

Hiya, maybe rather than ask if they will let you back to mw led care, could you position it slightly differently so that you tell them that you would very much prefer to have your baby under mw care for x reasons and can they please advise if they had any material concerns that would mean they advise against it? Same desired outcome but makes clear what it is you want and gets them to tell you why it is not possible, if indeed that ia the case.

I thjnk it is fair also if he or she tries to resist to ask for a 2nd opinion.

I hope it goes ok, good luck.

Midwife led care does not guarantee no intervention. I had it for both mine (and loved it) but DS1 was still a ventouse delivery and episiotomy. Tore with DS2.

Of course I know it doesn't guarantee no intervention, but I would like the opportunity to try, having had induction, drip, forceps and episiotomy - would just like to be able to get into the birthing pool if at all possible (and there's no chance on the consultant ward!)

Sorry, hit wrong button, will try reframing - all depends on who I see, I think (none will be consultant, all team members who I've had varying experiences with) but you're right, perhaps 2nd opinion if I really need to...!

Thanks!!

Good luck with that. I am (if I find the confidence and the words) going to attempt a similar discussion tomorrow. I am under a consultant because I have epilepsy, but my pregnancy and my epilepsy have not impacted on each other in any way. My epilepsy has remained under control and my pregnancy has been problem free. I would like, if possible, to have the opportunity to use a birthing pool and the much nicer birth centre as opposed to the more clinical delivery suite. Neither of which are possible for women under consultants.
