i have my 12week scan next week (when going by my estimates i will be 12weeks from my last period date). does anyone know if they the measure baby at the scan, by LMP dates - making me 12weeks, or do they take 2 weeks off that, and make it 8 weeks ,ie, when we concieved? sorry if this is a daft question! you'd think given it's my 3rd i would remember things like this! :)

It would be 10wks, not 8 from conception. But it's irrelevant anyway - they always go from the date of your LMP (or thereabouts!).

Congratulations!

heehee doh, that's what i meant to say buttonmoon(love the name by the way!!!) 10weeks rather than 12! Thanks!

The date you will be given will be approximately the time from conception plus 2 weeks. This might be the same as your LMP if you ovulate on day 14 but some women might ovulate early or very late and the LMP is irrelevant. Hence the need for a scan.

But if you know you ovulated 10 weeks ago, then you are 12 weeks now and all being well, that's what the scan will show to within a few days either side.

They measure the baby too and give you a new due date

They'll give you a new date by the foetus' measurements.

With dd, I had a bump by 7 weeks. I have a really shallow pelvis though and was pretty stick thin. A colleague was pregnant at the same time and didn't have a bump until 28 weeks. Grin

hmm i ain't even that thin and think my pelvis is ok too! Figure i'm just eating wayyyyy too much at the mo!

It's very, very common to be bloated in early pregnancy too. If the 'bump' is bigger in the evenings, it's probably wind/bloating/water retention.
