35 weeks and change in movement routine

For the last 8 weeks, just after I put DD to bed, have a cold drink and put my feet up, almighty movements have let loose in my belly - kicks, rolls, shakes etc. Apart from tonight. Had LOADS of shaking and kicking this morning, some through the day and some little movements and one or 2 big ones this evening, but by now I'd normally have had it for a couple of hours.

Am assuming that this all sounds routine (but obviously will get checked out in morning if I don't get some of the usual overnight movements) - but just can't remember compared to last time (and this one is much more wriggly anyway) - any thoughts please?

Reading the 'whats happening this week' emails I have been getting from babycentre I think it is normal to notice a change in movements at this stage as they are running out of space.

I am now 31 weeks and the movements are more subtle and I was worried last week as no kicks or anything like I did the weeks before so I called MW and she recommended I sit, relax and see what happens and then I noticed the smaller wriggles than the rib jumping kicks of before.

I'm nearly 37 weeks and I've found movement routines changing too. Baby seems to move for less time and just shoves and wriggles rather than full on kicks now. I figure it moves when it's uncomfortable rather than for fun because I guess there isn't the space any more.

By all means get it checked (we were in for monitoring last week when for the first two hours after I got up baby did nothing and didn't even react to having it's foot pushed hard) but I don't think it's actually a sign of there being anything wrong.

I think near the end they do change as they turn and run out of space, so as long as you are feeling something try not to worry too much. But do get it checked if you dont feel as much as you feel you should or it drops dramatically for your own peace of mind.

Thanks - and of course as luck (or whatever) would have it, having waited for 2 hours, had some 'normal' movements since I posted (not as many but same strength of movement) - off to bed now, bound to wake the little blighter up!!

Always the way! .....and if you do go down to get it checked be sure the little mite will start kicking as soon as you walk through the hospital door!
