I seem to have lost part of a tooth without noticing at the time. Obviously I need to see a dentist about this and can see one for free during pregnancy. Should I have an official piece of paper to prove I'm pregnant to get this? How do I get one? I'm 33 weeks and have never been given one or officially told about it. Would I need to get an appointment to see a dr or my midwife to get it before I get a dentist appointment?
I assume it is only relevant if I find a NHS ddentist who is taking on new patients, but NHS direct website says there are a couple near enough. I am terrified of the dentist. What if he/ she needs to take out the tooth and I can't have any painkillers because of being pregnant? What if I can't get it done for free because I can't get the official paper and/ or a NHS dentist and it costs hundreds of pounds I don't have?

Did you get a card to entitle to you to get free prescriptions? As i understand it you use the same card for the dentist. If not your GP should be able to give you one and will probably be quicker than getting an appointment with the midwife. The receptionists can probably get one signed for you without even needing an appointment.

I sympathise on the scared of dentist front - me too! But you will be able to have painkillers dont worry. I hope it wont come to that though!

Ask your midwife/doctors for the form for free prescriptions... i asked my receptionist for one and they gave me one and i returned it. they send it off and it takes upto 10 working days from when the government recieves it. I am currently waiting for my certificate atm.
