Hello Everyone Smile

I am 27wks+4days pg and was recommended this book by a fellow MNetter Wink

This is my second baby, although the first was now over 13 years ago and this time I am 40!

I was thrilled, when today, this book arrived at the local library for me. I've been really looking forward to starting it and I think it's come at just the right time for me.

So, have any you read it and if yes, what did you think of it?

Thanks Smile

I read it and loved it. Really gave me the hope that I can get through this,my 1st preg and labour hopefully without intervention whilst giving me the understanding that sometimes interventions are needed for safety. Altho saying that DH did look at me strangely when I read to him how I may need him to get on the bed with me and start tweeking my nipples Blush lol

Just finished now. Going to read it again in a few weeks!

Stuff on c-sections was a little scary. A friend had a c-section with her dc1 after a failed induction, she bled out on the operating table after the surgeon nicked her uterine artery, had to have a massive blood transfusion and needed CPR. She pulled through though and she had dc2 after a VBAC.
Having said that I quite a few people who have had c-sections, both elective and emergency and they came through just fine Smile

Hm, just finished my library copy after having also heard it recommended lots of times here! Given I had a natural birth with DD in a midwife-led centre, and am planning a homebirth with current bump (31 weeks at the mo), I would think I am exactly the kind of person who would rave about it, but it did leave me a bit cold.

Definitely agree with those who say it's obviously for the American market, and from her book it looks like they have very different attitudes to childbirth there. And different routine procedures in hospitals.

I think some of the ideas were probably quite useful, but at times it just went too far down the lentil-weaving route for me.

I actually prefer this book called Birth Skills which is loads of ideas about how to help yourself in labour with pain management techniques, but very very practical and not at all didactic.
