Hello

I'm being induced tomorrow when I'll be 12 days over my due date. Now that it seems very close, I just feel very nervous.

Just need sone reassurance and good induction stories please xx

I was induced with my first and it was all very straightforward. I was brought in at 6am and had a tablet put in to soften my cervix, they checked me at 10am and broke my waters, they then put me on oxytocin and gave me an epidural, I Slowly started getting contractions and dilating, by 4 I was about 5cm dilated but 1/2 hour later I was 10cm dilated and started pushing. About 1.5hrs later I had a beautiful baby girl, it was all very normal and went well and quite quick for a first labour, I was up and walking about a couple of hours later.

I think my story is pretty good. Had gel late at night. This appointment was quite a lot longer than I had been led to believe, you might want to check this. Sent home. In tons of pain and difficulty and all quite tough (partly because DH had to go to bed (don't ask)) until about 4am when called hospital and made stuff up until they agreed I could come in. After I got there, labour established, laboured away all day, had baby late afternoon. Not much induction involved after all, and apart from a rocky start quite a positive experience.

Went into labour the night before induction scheduled (12 days post due date - eating raspberries did it for me!) so can't give you a good induction story but just wanted to wish you the best of luck. You will be fine and do really well. I think it usually gets going quite gradually once you've been induced.

I've been induced twice. First time had waters broken and synto drip, baby arrived in less than 8 hours and they had to turn drip off as things were going so fast.
2nd time just had pessary, contractions got going within an hour and baby arrived about 6 hours later after just 2 pushes. Ended up having morphine just before baby arrived as they hadn't realised i was in transition!
Both pretty positive, quick and straightforward.
Induction isn't always bad!
Good luck

I had a really good induction. Had gel put in and started getting contractions every 3 mins straight away. Not too bad at all, was a bit unsure if that was really it as was expecting it to be way more painful.

The only downside was that when things got very intense a short while later, the midwife didn't believe me and wouldn't give me any pain relief. After being very insistent, I got some pethidine and she grudgingly examined me ... To find I was fully dialated!

They had to run me down to the delivery room and my little boy was born just after we got there. All in all, it took 2 hours.

I'd been scared of being induced too, heard so many bad things about days and days of nothing happening and leading to lots of intervention. But it wasn't that way at all for me, aside from the sceptical midwife, it went perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised that I'd managed to do it with only perthidine, as I am a huge wimp. And my baby was 9lb 2oz so a bit of a whopper!

Thank you very much for all the replies and good wishes. I do feel better now, hearing all these positive stories. Just gonna try and keep my mind off it tonight and get to hospital for 9am tomorrow!

Thanks again xxxxxx
