Had my 12 week scan and an appointment after with midwife yesterday.
Have looked at my notes and it says to see consultant which is to do with my EMCS 5 months ago, but it also mentioned antenatal monitoring to be discussed due to SGA with DD.
Why would this be monitored in 3rd pregnancy if it wasn't even mentioned in 2nd (should say DD was my first), especially when DS was premature and was a very healthy weight for gestational age?

Phone the midwife who did the booking appt - she should know.

It wasn't a booking appointment it was a dating appointment whatever one of those is. I tried to ring before writing this, but they aren't answering the phone.
I have consultant appointment in April so I am sure it will all become clear, just wondered if it was just an over keen midwife or if it is normal

I deleted the first part of my thread for some reason.

I tried to ring a few times before writing this but they aren't answering the phone.

Anything that doesn't come from the midwife will be speculation of course... maybe she thought that if you were seeing the consultant anyway (about the emcs) you may as well discuss the other issue. Your post does suggest it;s a discussion rather than a definite decision to monitor. Why? well procedures can change very quickly and opinions can vary between obstetricians.

Also maybe the midwives don't answer the phone during clinic hours. They may pick up later.

The antenatal clinic shuts at 4, and they have appointments till then.
I understand it will be speculation just asked as I find it odd it didn't play a significant enough part to even be mentioned with DS, I know procedures change but I should also add DS is only 5 months old, so I can't see why it would become so significant it a year.

Got through after being transferred to geriatrics, but got there in the end.
Thank you.

Should have said that I spoke to the sister and was told it will just mean I will be measured by community midwife. Thought that was done as standard personally but obviously not.

I've also noticed differences in care between what I'm getting and a friend who just 6m ago had her baby at the same hospital I'm booked at. I assume a lot is down to the opinion of individual midwives / obstetricians.

At least you have an answer though and it sounds non-scary so that's good.

Its probably due to the number of risk factors you have. If you tick enough boxes then you are automatically sent to the consultant. So DD1 being SGA would not necessarily have triggered it for your 2nd pg if that was the only risk. However, that plus the ECMS probably would have done. Also, how old are you, because >35 automatically ticks one of the risk boxes where I am.

I knew I had to see the consultant because of the EMCS, but my booking in midwife never mentioned SGA with DD. It was just the dating appointment midwife was showing me how the personlised graph works adn then said oh your DD was very small. Which is when I presume she added it on my notes to also speak to consultant about that.
I am 31.
