Is anyone involved in this study?

Anyone at all?
I signed up for it yesterday due to my history, and was told I would have a swab of my cervix at 22-24 weeks, and I thought that was it, but having googled it and found the OPPTIMUM website they mention taking medication which wasn't mentioned. Just wondered if anyone can shed some light on this for me.

I was invited to take part but declined. It's a study to test the effectiveness of progesterone pessaries in preventing premature birth due to incompetent cervix. If you are suitable for the trial then you will be given either a placebo or progesterone pessaries for a period throughout your pregnancy. I can't remember the exact details.

Hi Nunnie, I think the swab is just to detect Fibronectin. If you test positive you will be invited on to the full trial (if you want) if you test negative you will not be needed. The trial then involves progesterone or placebo throughout the preg. A

Thank you AngieM2, so it depends on the swab results? That is possibly why they didn't mention the next stage.

Hello
It does depend on your swab results althought some hospitals taking part in the study with offer you the chance to do the next stage regardless of your result if you have had a delivery before 34weeks before.
Good luck with your pregnancy.
