34 weeks, stabbing pain in fanjo

The last few days I've started getting an occasional stabbing pain in the right hand side of my fanjo/groin. It's only happened in the evenings so am assuming I need to slob out and eat chocolate put my feet up? - is this my muscles/ligaments stretching, baby's head bouncing on my cervix or something else entirely?

Not sure on the stabbing pain but loved the way you delivered this thread really tickled me!!!

Try chocolate....might work!!

I find a nice bar of Green&Blacks usually sorts out most things, however I'm having doubts that it's working in this instance...

TBH I wasn't really worried before as I thought I'd get loads of reassuring replies saying "me too", but perhaps I am the only one? Confused

Ive been having this every now and then for a couple of weeks, and have trawled the message boards for an answer on what it is. It feels JUST like baby is poking the cervix with a pointy little finger, doesnt it?! However, it cant be that, as baby's head's been engaged for a while, so I cant see how her fingers would get at it. Another theory I found was that it was simply the head rubbing against the cervix as it's getting engaged - but it doesnt feel like rubbing to me, it's definitely sharp and poky! Then at my last MW appointment, the MW was describing to me how in the last weeks before labour, the cervix actually moves from being quite far back, to facing forward and shortening, and I thought, maybe THAT is what these poky feelings are, it is my cervix moving and getting ready? Sorry for the long post, just another theory to throw out there!

I'm 14+4 and have been getting this A LOT! Been freaking me out a bit. Assumed it was/is ligaments?

We used to call them crotch zingers on MN.

I think it's when they press on a nerve. Really, really common towards the end. Makes you jump a bit. Like they're knitting and not quite in control of the needles.

ahhh thanks ladies - it's good to know I'm not alone with my stabby pain! Grin

Has anyone discovered a good way of easing it? I got to within 2 metres of my car today & had to stop walking and just stand there (pretending to be all cool & looking at my phone) for about 30seconds until it eased!

Can't offer much help I'm afraid - I did have symhysis pubis dysfunction when I was preggo and wondered if you might be having a touch of this? It hurts when you go up and down stairs or getting in and out of cars - things which involve opening your legs (no comment ha ha !)

By the way I have to echo what savannah rose says - the word fanjo had me creased over and it takes a lot to make me laugh out loud Grin.

All the best x

I have had this a few times too, am 33 weeks BTW..Think it is probably babies arms/legs hitting a nerve down there. My baby is breech at the moment, so not sure if this makes it worse?!

I would say at this late stage it is definitely baby though and not ligaments strecthing etc...

I have this too, when I walk for more than around 10 metres. It's quite painful and causes me to breath in sharply. Ouch.
