..Any suggestions? Ds and Dd both have Old Testament names, we like traditional names. Because of our surname it's best if it ends in 'ie' or 'y' or a consonant. Any suggestions? Don't mind names being slightly unusual - dd's name isn't commonly used. TIA!

Tortoiseshell, my name is Rachel and my dd is Leah (only name her father and I ever agreed on!) I know Leah is cow (heifer actually!) but Rachel is Ewe! I just tell dd that R and L were sisters in the bible and she loves that(of course R was the beautiful one and L plain but that is definitely not true with us - she is a mini me but far more beautiful!) I also don't tell her that they were both married to the same man! I called ds1 Joseph - Rachel was his mother in OT but balked at calling ds2 Benjamin cos she died in childbirth with him!

Also, what about Zillah?

Always liked the idea of Poppy or Scarlett but could never use them, and not exactly old testament

Ellbell · 21/10/2005 20:09

Is Leah being a heifer linked with the fact that she was the fertile one?

Rachey1969 · 24/10/2005 11:35

Perhaps?! I've also seen it defined as 'weary' and with all those kids I bet she was!

spookylucy · 24/10/2005 11:37

My dd is Poppy and my sister is Esther.
