Im 6wks pregnant.

Suffer from heartburn reguarly. Partly stress but also sluggish digestive system.

Last pregnancy was hell- lost a ton of weight.

This pregnancy is going the same way. Any tips? Have been sick lots today.

I cant take the hard drugs til 2nd or 3rd trimester.

Help!

Oh dear...erm...what about seeing a herbalist to see if they can help?

Have heard acupuncture can help with sickness as well although not sure about hearburn

I had severe sickness with Ds and this one (due 25th March) and it was a pisser...I wore seasickness bands, ate bland food little and often and far too many crisps but hey - they helped! I was prescribed tablets that are safe to take in 1st trimester but didn't take them as was too scared

Sorry if you already do this but I find sleeping with loads of pillows helps & drinking milk. Sounds like you get it really bad :(

Am not a Dr but what has your GP said about medications such as losec? Might be wrong but I thought they can be prescribed? Dr Google might be able to advise you better than I though Wink

Thank you both. Will look into all those options.

Drink I have gone off which is unfortunate as it does provide temp relief.

Not sure about a herbalist- will do some research.

Agree Docs and phone call to consultant if necessary.

Hoping it has been made worst by stress. Massive assessment due in.

Im 13 weeks and have been very very very sick since 5+5.

Was hospitalised at 8 weeks as dehydrated, as i went over 72hours with not keeping anything at all in me, and i have hyperemis. Lost a stone in 3 weeks.
Since 8 weeks have been on max dose of anti-sickness, which has kept me out of hospital.... just

have also tried accupuncture and what i have found has really helped (and only been doing this for a couple of weeks now, i wish i had tried it sooner, but my acupuncturist hadnt herd of it and was discussing me with another actupunctuirst friend who suggestes it) Is to have needle plasters in my wrists.

after my acupuncture session in the point called p6, i have a little plaster that has a needle in it. (same place where you put travel sickness bands)

They really really have made a huge difference to my life over the past couple of weeks.... when they are in (3 - 4 days at a time) I have a couple of days of feeling nearly well.
(will add that last time i took them out i did 30 hours of vomiting everything again, so am scared of removing them tomorrow morning.)

But while they are in i get some relief. Still taking anti-sick tablets though... I darent not take them, and take them religously every 8 hours

These plasters dont hurt and so long as you dont put extra pressure on wrists (ie lift a heavy sauce pan or bag of shopping) they dont hurt. If you do lift a heavy pan, it doesnt really hurt as such... more like a very unpleasant 'twang' that makes you gasp

Nannyl that sound awful.

Luckily I know the being sick is related to my body's inability to digest food- I get it when not pregnant. Just has gotten worse.

Soup any one?

Always had heartburn, with all 3 dds & in between!

Was diagnosed with hiatus hernia following a hospital admission vomitting blood, v scary and never had heartburn like it.

Put on Omeprazole which is a PPI (proton pump inhibitor- posh way of saying it reduces the amount of acid your body produces). I thought it would be stopped during this pg but GP said keep taking it if it helps. 31 weeks now & with the exception of the odd dose of gaviacon advance on top, the omeprazole has done me proud!

Also, I had always had milk as I'd been told it'd help. Not according to my consultant & gp! I was advised to stick to water as milk can actually make it worse!? And it works for me. Not sure if this helps but just opens up another possibility for you.

I am having similar issues, I was vomiting blood caused by the irritation of my stomach lining. The dr put me on ranitidine which seems to be helping although there are a million things I just can't touch like tomatoes and orange juice.

I'm 31 weeks now and have put on a lot less weight than usual so I'm trying my best to look on the bright side. Despite feeling like shit and being unable to eat anything other than bland rubbish people keep telling me how well I look Hmm

Get thee to the docs anyway, I'm sure they can help.

Thank you. Will get myself to go!
