Can achy legs be a part of labour?

When I get period pains, a part of it is really achy legs. I've had the same feeling all afternoon, and it's finally gone away thanks to a hot bath. I'm 36 weeks.

Could it be part of getting towards the end? Did anyone experience this as part of labour?

I'm no expert but don't your tendons relax towards the beginning of labour?

Oh really? Yes that makes sense. It felt like my period was on it's way iyswim

I had crappy pains in my thighs when I started labour and it got progressively worse throughout labour. Really hurt. So it could be.

I found in the final week I was crampy in the legs.

here you go

I had really horrible periody type pains in the top of my thighs when I was in labour with #1, so it could be, he was back to back to start with but thankfully moved round as labour progressed. Or as you are so far along, if the babys head has engaged then it could be pressure that is causing it. Restless leg syndrome (which I have had even when not pg) can actually hurt and feel like that too, although ime that is further down the leg.

It felt at first as if my legs were really cold and I put a hot water bottle on them which helped and then I realised it was achey cramps, not cold.

Been feeling uncomfortable all weekend but I suppose that's all the fun of the last bit of pregnancy!

I get a dragging achey feeling in my thighs when I've got my period and when I mentioned to the Doc ages ago she said changes in hormone levels are often felt there for some reason and that menopausal women have similar sensations.... So I guess it could be your hormones adjusting for the coming event?

Oh, And thanks for the name suggestion - Max Theo it is! Grin
