Well I'm 27weeks and have had the worse restless legs for about a week through the night.

Please someone help me get rid of them. I'm willing to try anything :)

My left leg has gone bonkers, and from about 10pm each night it just HAS to kick every twenty seconds. It has a mind of it's own! Angry

No advice, I'm sorry, just sympathy.

FetchezLaVache · 05/03/2011 23:16

I had this, it drove me MENTAL. The only thing that helped at all, and admittedly not very much, was drinking tonic water.

Sorry, that's not much help either! :(

Someone just told me to rub them with cold water so I'm off to try that but on the plus side think my DP is about to go sleep on couch so I have bed to myself to be restless haha. :o

my Dh rubbed my legs for me last night and it seemed to help. Also magnesium supplements but they probably take a few weeks to take effect...I'm only 12 weeks now so I hope it doesn't last til 40 weeks or I will go INSANE Sad

I get this and I'm NOT pregnant. Being over-tired makes it worse. Also, reckless is right about the magnesium. Hope it gets better soon.

I had this with all of mine. Its very horrible.

Only things that helped me:

Eat a banana before bed (potassium (sp) supposed to help).
Do some leg exercises at bed time. Nothing strenuous, no high kicks Grin. I used to do ankle turns 10 one way, 10 the other.

It helped with restless legs and cramps. Not a miracle cure but it did help. Smile

It's nasty. I'm repeating myself from another thread here, but I had it before I got pregnant and I haven't since. When I got pregnant I gave up full fat Coke having been an addict for years. I've heard that consuming lots of carbs can be a factor for some people and I think it was for me. Good luck and I hope it stops soon.

Hi I'm new here,

I used to get this when I was a little girl and never knew what it was or how to describe it to my mum who just said growing pains.
It came back when i was about 12 weeks and i finally researched it, its horrid!! One of my annoying symptoms, mine comes and goes, but when i've had to strecth my legs loads i then get bad cramp in the morn.
The joys of pregnancy lol. Not as bad as my bloating though :( xx

I've always had it and it is worse in pg. I have been going mental until I read recently, I think it was on here, about doing some leg exercises. I stand flat on my feet and raise up onto tip toe atleast ten times, til I can really feel it in my calves, just before going to bed. And it really has helped. It doesnt always stop it completely but I also found that if it does start and is keeping me awake, doing them then can help take the edge off.

Interesting about the magnesium though, will definetely give that try!

Scouseem · 07/03/2011 08:01

I had a awful night with it last night, think I slept for a total of 2hours between toilet trips and annoying legs. Nothing seems to help with me but gonna try having a banana before bed tonight and see if that helps.
I do find some comfort in the fact that I'm not the only one tho :)

I have had this alot of my life and certainly in early pg but as time has gone on it has got alot better. I wonder whether something in the pg supplements is helping, maybe magnesium. I am getting some relief for the first time since I was a teenager a looooong time ago.
I also agree with the leg exercises suggestion but more for exercises based on stretching not on muscle building. If I go cycling I am fine for a few days then I have a hellish time, presumably as the muscle breaks down again. Yoga seems to be better suited to helping this horrible horrible condition that people who dont have it, just dont understand! You all have my sympathy x
