Do you write a birth plan with planned section?

I have had two emergency sections before, so birth plans went out the window!
TIA Smile

If you had C-sections before and there was anything in the after care that you didn't like then write a plan :-))

Yeah, why not?

You might want your own music playing, or any lights not essential to the operation dimmed so that your baby can be taken out of the very bright light, or the first voice your baby hears to be yours/your partners, or to discover the sex of the baby yourself, or to helped to breastfeed straight away, or for the cord to finish pulsating before it's cut, or for Dad/partner to cut the cord. Or all sorts of other things that I can't think of but that might be important to you.

I think it could be a great idea. Go for it Smile.

And Congratulations!

you could write things like you want skin to skin immediately after section, that you want to breast/bottle feed, you dont want visitors etc

Anything you really want or dont want!

You can do. There was a great thread on the Childbirth board I think.

I was going to but didn't bother. As it was planned, you get to talk to all the staff before anyway and in your pre op appointment.

If you want to take your own music, you can do. They will probably ask you if you want or recommend skin to skin anyway and its so calm and relaxed just chatting to them, you can tell them what you want.

Yes. Mine was to have skin to skin in theatre (the consultant actively encouraged it anyway), I wanted to see the placenta (I forgot all about it with my EMCS), I wanted to bf and lots of help from the midwives. I got all of these as I had my bossy-boots on for my ELCS.

We forgot the music and left it in the car both times though. TBH I was quite happy chatting to the theatre staff about what the machines were and how it was going.

Yes I did and it was followed. Made me feel a bit more in control of the whole event (which I really wasn't but psychologically it was useful)

No I didn't. But then, I nearly passed out both times, I'm assuming to a drop in blood pressure/ shock? I could hardly talk, couldn't stop shivering and all the voices and sights seemed to be swimming far, far away- I wouldn't have noticed dimmed lights, music, placenta, skin to skin etc!

And I get to do it all again in 7 months time Grin I wonder if anyone will listen to me this time when I tell them about my reaction to the anaesthetic- perhaps I should write that into my birth plan??!!

OP if you do write a successful birth plan, come back and let us know, please! Sorry for the me, me, me post.
