Has anyone managed to find any chewable or liquid pregnancy vitamins. I just can't swallow the bullets made by pregnacare and Boots plus they make me feel sick. I'm taking folic acid (fine as tiny tablets)but could really do with topping up on Vit D and iron as borderline anaemic.
Midwife being fairly useless and just told me to buy them all seperately but would prefer to find an all in one if possible.

floradix is a liquid iron and vitamin supplement, but I'm not sure how broad a range of vitamins it includes or whether it has vitamin D in it.

can you take gel caps? Just put the caps on your tounge, take a mouthful of water, tip head forward and swallow - viola they are gone, no effort involved!

There is an absolutely excellent American pre-natal liquid by a company called Nature's Plus. It's called Source of Life Prenatal and is extremely high quality. You won't find it your average health food shop, but will probably have to order it online or from The Nutri Centre. It tastes fine, too.

Thank you,
Emmah I was looking at Floradix today, used to take it when I was younger, pretty certain there's no vit D in it but I could just eat more nuts and seeds
Finding I'm not sure about gel caps, worth a try, just don't want to waste money!
Molybdenum that looks like the kind of thing, bit rubbish that it's got lots of sugar in it but otherwise perfect! I will chat to my nice lady in the local health food shop to see if she can get it in as she does stock other Nature's Plus supplements.

There is no vitamin D in nuts and seeds by the way! You only find te tiniest amount in food; we are designed to synthesise it ourselves after exposure to sunlight.
The only food sources of D3 are animal fats, and then only if the animal itself has had exposure to sunlight. There has been a decrease in the average level of Britons' serum D3 since intensive farming became widespread, as so many animals now spend their lives indoors that most meat/fish/eggs contain no D3 at all.
Maintaining D3 levels during pregnancy is extremely important. Do not delay supplementation - ask your nice health food shop lady to order you Nutri D3 drops and take two to four drops per day.

Can I ask why vit D is so important in pregnancy, I could google but feeling lazy!
