Early pregnant - feel RUBBISH

I'm about 7 weeks pregnant with number 2 and I have all day morning sickness which is horrible. What I didn't have before though is dizziness. Every time I am standing I feel light headed and in need of a sit or lay down. Sometimes it gives me the shakes and sweats. I feel quite ill. I haven't actually been sick so I am keeping food down. Anyone else had this?

Hiya supergreenuk, congratulations!! Im 5 weeks and i have had the shakes a few times. It tends to be when i havent eaten, so have been having lemonade and eating another meal. I get low blood pressure so i will ask when i see the doctor/midwife. Ususally after eating and having something sweet it helps!

supergreenuk · 04/03/2011 09:41

Thanks. That makes sense I will see if this works for me.

It wasnt me who thought of the sugar! It was my dh, slightly embarassing! Yes, try a cereal bar when you wake up as its a long time from your dinner the night before till brekie time! Kind of, think im nov 5th but it could change as my period was really weird in jan! What date are you? Thank you!

MrsCLH · 04/03/2011 09:57

supergreenuk is right - DO NOT let yourself get hungry, eat small snacks every hour if you can. I'm 11 weeks and been suffering constant nausea and lightheadedness all the way through. I'm constantly eating!

NotSoPukeyMum · 04/03/2011 10:03

Just wanted to offer some sympathy...was also feeling horrible at that stage, just after Christmas. Agree with what others have said about snacking. Cereal bars by the bedside (or mini packs of Maryland cookies, as you wish!) are the way to go. x

supergreenuk · 04/03/2011 15:45

22nd oct at the moment.
Right snacks away. I can feel the 3 stone baby weight going on as we speak. Just wish I didn't feel so sick thinking about food as I might actually enjoy choosing what to eat.

Hula Hoops and biscuits got me through.

And my iron levels have improved.

Go figure. (Apologies for Americanism)

ShowOfHands · 04/03/2011 16:00

There's a delicious irony in feeling sick and not wanting to eat but food being the thing that actually staves off the dizziness/nausea.

When you have found something that appeals/you can stomach, don't worry about weight/nutrition. Just go with it. Chances are a week later you'll find it repulses you.

I found that extremes of food/drink helped. So really cold milk or really hot tea. Really spicy food or really bland food. Nothing in the middle.

freeangel · 04/03/2011 17:54

My friend is due 25th oct supergreenuk Ooooh cold milk sounds nice, i have good moments and bad when it comes to food at the moment!

MrsVidic · 04/03/2011 19:30

Sweets help me and crisps

MrsBakerNeeld · 04/03/2011 19:33

I found that crystallised ginger, nibbled in the morning helped me quite a bit.

Also any kind of plain crisps and wholemeal bread and butter too xxx

Mondayschild78 · 04/03/2011 20:02

I am all about the Ritz Biscuits!! Grin They are really helping me get through work, have a stash in my drawer.

I'm due 18th Oct and feeling really similar - sick, light headed, not fancying any food.

I like the idea of Maryland cookies - yum!

grottielottie · 04/03/2011 20:11

Hey supergreek snap on the old due date I'm also due then. I'm nauseous in waves but not at all hungry, my sense of smell and taste is heightened beyond belief though and I've become really picky. I need bland food only, the blander the better just like that scketch from goodness grasious me.

I seem to be living on porridge sweetened with golden syrup, but I figure it has plenty of slow release carbs and I can eat a whole bowl (rather than one bite) so who cares.

supergreenuk · 04/03/2011 20:40

I am eating porridge. Bland seems to be best for me. I didn't have it this bad last time. Sob sob. It will all be worth it.

Ooh I'm due 25th October too! :-) I've been very lucky, no sickness as yet but I'm not holding my breath. So far my main problem has been sheer exhaustion after work (other half got home to find me dozing in bed at 7.30pm earlier!) and slightly sore boobs. All in all not too bad. Really want to ge to that 12 week mark though, hate the worrying statistics :-/

supergreenuk · 04/03/2011 20:43

GL is this your 1st? It won't seem real until the scan. Booking in appointment is this Thursday.

grottielottie · 04/03/2011 21:28

Yep my first, out of the country till 11 weeks but have booking in sorted for the day after I'm back followed by hasty booking of scans no doubt (mw said she couldn't do this in advance but was very good about seeing me as soon as get back).

cait43 · 05/03/2011 09:12

HLSalter · 05/03/2011 21:52

I kept a pack of rich teas with me at all times after I passed out in the bank one day. Smile
