Is it just me? I drop everything...lids to milk and juice cartons, knives and forks, socks and pants, shampoo and conditioner in the shower, lids to face creams and toothpaste, everything...I am at the point that I start crying every time I do this now....39 weeks tomorrow and huge and I can't do it anymore.

Sorry...moan over now....

I started a thread like this in my last pg, and am noticing it already this time at only 7wks.... interestingly I was at a pregnancy talk this week and apparantly relaxin, one of the pregnancy hormones, causes you to feel and be more clumsy than usual, hence the dropping everything. I used to leave a trail of lids, tissues, socks etc etc etc for DH to pick up after me every night when he got home...had/have bad SPD so bending down made it worse....so, no, it's not just you :)

I am SO pleased that there's a medical explanation for this as I have been the same for weeks. Am now 38 weeks so can completely empathise boredbuthappy. My OH and DD are used to coming home from work/school to find various objects strewn around the floors throughout the house and my DD has been designated my official 'picker upper'! Hang in there and all the best with your imminent new arrrival!

The floor is very far away now. If I drop something then it was meant to be and can bloody well stay there! DH is used to picking my things up and dealing with the house rabbit. It is probably hormones making you cry but there is a lot to look forward to so try not to let it get you down - take things at a slower pace too then you might be less likely to drop things in the first place. As for lods and things try to open stuff over the shelf in the shower or over the worktop/table in the kitchen. That way if you do drop something then it won't hit the deck.

this always happens to me when I am out, carrying about ten bags and trying to stop my toddler from tearing the supermarket apart. oh the joys of pregnancy.

Honeydragon · 03/03/2011 20:54

Never drop a entire jar of honey when you are 8.5 months pregnant, the resulting sticky broken glass mess will make you cry ...... A LOT.

Also 8 years on you will be recounting it on a internet forum as you can still remember the utter despair you felt trying to clean it and the big snot bubbles and piggy red eyes from howling for about a further 3 hours after the incident because the floor is STILL FUCKING STICKY!

I'm over it now Grin

JimmyChoo17 · 03/03/2011 20:54

Is there a medical reason as to why its only ever my pen at work? And all the time?

I am thinking about tying it to me...you know...like you do with kids and mittens in the winter Grin

boredbuthappy · 03/03/2011 21:19

i've just had a big mac, fries, coke, chicken nuggets, and an apple pie...I feel much better now...and I didn't drop any of itGrin

Also oedema - some women develop full on carpal tunnel syndrome where the nerve running through the wrist is compressed causing constant tingling/disturbed sensation. I think its a reasonable extrapolation to suggest that most women will experience some alteration of sensation either due to nerve or direct oedema causing slightly odd sensation.

PermaShattered · 03/03/2011 21:42

ALL the time, dropping stuff. And also (I'm 37 wks preg now) when i know i'm about to drop something my reflexes don't work fast enough.

But the worst thing?! Everyone else in the house ignores ('didn't see!') thngs on the floor and I'm forever say, please pick that up! So annoying.
