Hi this is VERY serious. I feel like i have a bruised vagina. I am wondering if it is the pressure from the babies(I am having twins?) It has been like this for the last few months but over the last two weeks its killing me! I am not joking... It is like the bones(if there are any??) inside are bruised.... Is this normal.... ??

Anyone else......Blush

How far along are you? I remember feeling like I was going to die pain wise from about 16 weeks to 28. With my twins but for some reason between 28 & 38 weeks I felt great. I think my body had passed through the pain barrier by then and I had turned into a complete hardass woman of steel!

It hurt like hell before then though I think you grow so fast at a huge rate with twins some wierd pains are par for the course I am afraid.

FrumpyPumpy · 03/03/2011 18:29

I feel like I have been kicked for much if the time, and did with last pg too. Not twins either. Normal I think/hope.

schmee · 03/03/2011 18:36

I had that with mine and it turned out to be SPD where the two bit of your pubic bone get out of alignment. If you talk to your midwife she should be able to help.

clarabella18 · 03/03/2011 18:46

I had that in my first. Only way I could describe was like the pain you got when you were younger and fell off you bike seat onto the cross bar!
Yep it's SPD, see your midwife about a referral to the physio.

schmee · 03/03/2011 18:49

That's such a good description clarabella!

jasmine51 · 03/03/2011 18:53

Got the same - like I've been kicked between the legs - have been told it could develop into spd

theagedparent · 03/03/2011 18:56

Sounds like spd to me, very painful

pipoca · 03/03/2011 19:12

My bits , i.e between my legs, my labia I suppose....feel swollen and ache, espcially after sitting for a while or standing for a while (now 28 wks) is that spd, or just pressure from baby?

schmee · 03/03/2011 20:10

That doesn't sound quite the same to me pipoca. Might be an increased blood supply thing?

hippy3 · 03/03/2011 20:54

I dont believe this...but i have just googled SPD and its basically spot on the symptons I have. My pain is worse at night, turning over wakes me up and I am in PAIN It hurts me to turn over in bed... and I am having trouble getting in and out the car, I cant cross my legs anymore without it causing me pain.... I am getting onto my midwife tomorrow, although ive only five weeks left of this pregnancy!!

I should have posted this up when I first started feeling bruised weeks ago, just thought it was a normal part of pregnancy?? Blush

Thank you so much for the advice. MN is a god send... !!

Hi

I suffered with SPD - make sure you ask for help and get a physio referral.

Sorry the other yucky thing to consider is varicose veins 'down there' - I had those too and boy they really bloody hurt!

Try not to be on your feet too much but keep mobile!

hippy3 · 03/03/2011 20:57

ooppsss....Looks like my brain has gone as well..didnt mean to double post.

twinmummy im 31+5 .... and in fairness I thought it was all just totally normal so havent bothered asking about it ! feel like an idiot now...!

TBH - when I got referred first time round with it, I think the only advice I got was about keeping my legs together (hmmm - perhaps they should have given me that advice before I got pregnant Wink).

I also got a girdle to help support the weight of my enormous bump, but the NHS one was completely rubbish. I think you can buy better ones online which I'm going to do as the SPD is returning in this pregnancy.

If anyone got more helpful advice from a physio would be great to know.

argylesocks · 03/03/2011 23:10

weird, i went to the hospital about this exact thing yesterday it was hurting so bad. I saw a gyno and that's exactly what she said.. it's spd and the pressure from the bones shifting makes it feel bruised. It really really hurts and she said it's probably only going to get worse. turning over at night is awful! Thankfully it's not really bad every day but at least I know what it is.

CointreauVersial · 03/03/2011 23:13

Are you having a natural birth? There are certain birthing positions not recommended for spd, so check that out. Hope your last five weeks isn't too painful.

PipPipPip · 03/03/2011 23:24

Don't feel like an idiot. I had a urinary tract infection for AGES, because I thought the discomfort was just a "normal" pregnancy feeling! The midwife detected it, but I had no idea.

Was an enormous relief to realise it wasn't normal, and could take antibiotics for it. Yippee!!

At least you have a name now for what you're feeling :)

hippy3 · 04/03/2011 08:56

wont be having a natural birth anyway I dont thin...I wanted to b ut my twins are ID which means there are numerous risks with them. Also at my last scan on weds the one was head up under my ribs... and the other one is head down..I was reading on the web that you need to let them know if your planning on having a VB with SPD.

I am so glad I now know what it is.... I am literally going to ring my mid wife now...Smile

Yes they need to measure the distance that you can comfortably separate your legs before birth and put this on your notes very clearly so that if, for example, you have an epidural, your legs aren't separated more than you could tolerate if you could feel the pain as this could cause future damage. IYSWIM.

If you are having monoamniotic twins you will definitely be having a c-section I think?

Good luck with talking to the MW.

BTW also make sure they refer you for physio post-pregnancy as well.

hippy3 · 04/03/2011 12:41
