NK cell tests - anyone told they didn't need treatment

Hi,

Am posting here because I'm hoping to find some who have gone through recurrent MC investigations that included being tested for NK cells, but have having successful (so far) pregnancies Smile

I've just had my 4th MC, and have found in NHS tests that I have factor v leiden, as well as PCOS previously diagnosed. I was on aspirin and clexane injections, but unfortunately still lost this pg at about 8 weeks (it was a missed miscarriage found at an 11 week scan).

I'm currently considering whether it's worth taking the testing any further privately, which pretty much means exploring the NK cells theory. However, it seems to be something that only those who are already convinced about test for and treat (IYSWIM). I want to know whether it's likely that they'll do the test and tell me it was negative and I don't need any treatment, if that is what the test says. Or whether everyone who gets tested for this is told that treatment is required?

Sorry if this isn't clear. Basically, what I want to know is if you had the test and were negative.

And if you were negative, did they say no treatment or did they throw steriods at you 'just in case'?

"but are having successful" and "steroids"

You can only get this test done privately and I believe it costs around £600. Not all medical people believe in this theory.

I have had 2 normal pregnancies, 8 miscarriages and still born twins at 21 weeks (lost to a specific id twin problem). I have been tested for everything bar NK cells. Nothing come up so far to explain any of my miscarriages. My consultant is treating me with steroids when I do become pg again (this is to fight NK cells if I do have them) although the regime I was on - steroids, heparin and progesterone - did not help last time.

The steroids themselves do not cost much so I feel I won't bother with the expensive NK test, if the treatment for it is something I can take anyway.

HTH.

lady ((( hugs ))) nice to see you lovely lady, hope you're doing ok. I had the test for NK cells, and they all came back within normal range, except for one which can lead to excessive clotting in the womb, so they've put me on clexane. No steroids though as they felt there's no need. I hope that's reassuring - feel free to message me if you want any more info.

I really hope the tests all go well, we've all been thinking of you xx

Ah Pink yes, it really is reassuring thanks! I'll be in touch if you don't mind.
