I am 30+4 wks pg with my first and have bn very very lucky all the way through with no problems! All morning I have had a stitch type odd pain all accross the bottom of my bump and sort of in my fanjo (sorry tmi!). had this a couple of time as a sharp type pain this week but todays it been constant. Last night it did catch me off guard and I had to stop and bend over before I could move again.

No bleeding, cramps or BH just this constant strange pain that i would say is uncomfortable more than unbearable.

Any one got any ideas? Is this just normal ligament type stretching or baby pressing on something (he is still breech, all wriggling and kicks very low down). He is still moving about so more worried its maybe a sign of things starting early or a UTI?

Dont want to call midwife unnecessarily or if im just being an overly worried first timer.

Anyone else had this?

I've had pains like this and I'm 39-4 so I'm gonna be keeping an eye on this and hope its normal. I've got a midwife appointment tomorrow as well so will ask and report back.

I was glad to see this thread as I've seen people say they had pains in the 'fanjo' (brill word) but not the bottom of the bump.

Is it sort of an ache in the bump?

It's more like a stitch type pain that just won't go than an ache if that makes sense!

I've had something similar. Mine seems to have gone now though but I still have some aches in my upper thighs and groin. My midwife said the rule of thumb is to take a paracetamol and if the pain doesn't go within an hour then to get it checked in hospital. She said with me it sounded like possible Braxton Hicks or the baby's bum/head pushing into my pelvis. I'm now wondering whether mine was his head getting engaged but I really don't want to go into labour just yet (32 + 4 with twins!).

It seems to have eased a little bit after he moved so I am now wondering if its just that he had a body part pressing against something causing my discomfort as it definately not the head engaging! Think its just first time paranoia!

Hope you can hang on for a few more weeks Roo!!

I had the same feeling, and it was a urinary tract infection. It was a relief, in a way, because I thought that perhaps it was a normal part of the pregnancy and I'd have to suffer through it! But I took a dose of antibiotics and it cleared up very quickly.

UTIs aren't something to worry about. I recommend seeing a GP/midwife for a test because, if it is one, it would be wonderful to have that discomfort eased. And if it isn't one, you can relax knowing that it is just your baby wiggling about.

Sorry for crazy bold text in the above! It was supposed to differentiate is and isn't.

PipPipPip · 03/03/2011 12:37

F*cksticks! Just ignore my lame attempts at this, okay?

quasimodo123 · 03/03/2011 13:03

thank you PipPipPip I will make a GP appointment if it doesn't go away as not got MW until the middle of next week! I know whay you are trying to say lol

sounds like pelvic girdle pain to me, and just possibly SPD. Worth talking to midwife - she will be able to give advice/refer to physio if it is that.
