This is one of those annoying "is this normal?" questions, thought I'd give advance warning

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and if I'm walking for more than a few minutes I get a pulling feeling in my lower abdomen and pressure in my bum and fanjo.

Am I right in thinking this is stretching ligaments and pressure my growing uterus? The irrational part of my mind says my insides are going to fall out of my lady-bits and I'll end up in an episode of Embarrassing Bodies!

It's just the ligaments stretching and your pelvis relaxing. Everything pulls more easily and feels quite lax. Nowt to worry about.

It sounds like ligament pain. They soften very early in pg and between growing pains and the ability to damage yourself doing what used to be normal, there can be a lot of odd sensations going on.

It's pretty standard for maternity hospitals to offer a physiotherapy service for pg ladies so you could self-refer for advice. Otherwise, the standard advice seems to be to do whatever you can to minimise pain: adopt good posture, move slowly, walk in shorter steps, walk in straight lines (rather than pivoting or twisting to go round corners etc), keep activiy low impact i.e. if doing aerobics walk don't run/jump. Also be aware of how you sit down/ stand up / get out of bed and try to minimise strain on the affected area. And "engage your core" i.e. engage the abdominal muscles just above your pelvis before moving / standing etc. Getting them in good shape now will help them support you later in pg.

Good luck
