Would you go to a Pop/Rock concert heavily pregnant?

Maybe it is a silly question ...
But Robbie Williams (supported by none other than Duran Duran) is playing in Auckland on December 6th. My friend can (through her work) get good tickets for not much money and wants me to go with her, knowing that I still lust after the young Robster and would love to relive my youth by seeing Duran Duran again.
Thing is ... I will be 32 weeks pregnant! Would you go? Should I go? Should I take my head out of the clouds and accept that I should grow up now that I am a mother of one/soon to be two? Would it be awfully sad for a heavily pregnant woman to be seen bopping away and screaming at said Pop Stars??
What would you do? Am I mad even to consider it?

go - for lots of reasons. you shoukd make the most of those last weeks and you and dh/p spend time together. also it sounds like a bargain , just becoz you are a mum doesn't mean you haven't still got that mad teenager in you. Enjoy , as they say life is too short

EmmaTMG · 14/09/2003 07:20

When he played here recently at Knebworth to 50 billion people, Okay a slight exaggeration, apparently several women went into labour and one actually gave birth in the first aid tent back stage so you wouldn't be the only PG womamn to have bopped and screamed at my 'first truelove'

If your friend can get tickets with an actual seat then I think that would be better but I'm sure if you're careful you'll have a great time.........by careful I mean no stage-diving!

Enjoy it!

CountessDracula · 14/09/2003 09:10

I went to several gigs up to about 32 weeks pregnant. I should go if I were you, just don't go down the front!

doormat · 14/09/2003 09:23

Totally agree with the other posters GO
anyway when is the next time they will be on stage in your area?????
Dont miss out on the oppurtunity
Anyway if you go into labour you could always name the baby Robbie Le Bon.
I used to think John Taylor was FIT... aaah the memories

doormat · 14/09/2003 09:25

ps I went to my brothers gig when I was 36 weeks pg. Did me no harm.I couldnt dance though coz I looked like a beached whale.

Ghosty · 14/09/2003 10:16

Hee hee ... looks like I might be going then!! Wow ... missed out on Robbie in the UK ... and they don't do the big Knebworth or Wembley thing here ... don't have anything big enough!
How exciting!!!

I went to see Robbie when 6 months pg with ds and it was fine- had a great time. We laughed when all the girls were flashing their bras at him, thinking of the shock if he saw my Mothercare white cotton monster( I didn't!!)I did warn dh, howeve, that if I got a backstage pass, I'd be late back!!!
Only tip- go to the toilet as soon as you get there- they get grotty quickly

Janstar · 14/09/2003 10:35

IMO it depends on what kind of concert it is. Went to several when pg for first time, but no bopping in aisles, more sedate affais with a seat to rock around in.

But 11 years later and older, pg for 3rd time, went to a Madness tribute in music room of a pub, filled with skinheads charging about and could not hack it - felt like a spare part in a pinball machine. Left and headed for my bed.

GRMUM · 14/09/2003 11:13

Go. I went to an amnesty international concert with Bruce Springsteen and Peter Gabriel when 4 months pregnant with DS1. With DD1 I saw Deep Purple the evening before I went in to be induced with her. As someone else said I felt like a beached whale but it was great. Even got a photo to commerate it! ENJOY

there was a story in a newspaper recently about a woman (i think in america) who went to a rock concert when heavily pregnant and is now under investigation for child cruelty!! but it was heavy metal and she was standing in front of a speaker all night!! Go and enjoy yourself I would

pie · 14/09/2003 15:29

Do you mean this one Spod??

I would go too Ghosty

SoupDragon · 14/09/2003 15:46

Robbie AND Duran Duran?? Why are you even asking this question?

slug · 14/09/2003 16:43

International acts come to NZ once in a blue moon. On no account miss it. I went to see Primal Scream while 8 months pregnant, the lovely security guards, on spotting my bump, made sure everyone (including dh) made way for me.

emsiewill · 14/09/2003 17:03

Go go go go go.

Get my point? I went to see Tom Jones when 8.5 months pregnant with dd1. I enjoyed it, as did she (turning somersaults in there).

But I didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Robbie at Knebworth this year. No-one with a chance to see him should let it slip through their fingers. And especially with Duran Duran as a side dish!

motherinferior · 14/09/2003 18:12

Emsiewill, did you throw your pants at the stage?

Ghosty, if you've got the energy, GO. And wear something outrageously skimpy.

Angiel · 14/09/2003 18:24

Well I reckon I must be mad. I sold my ticket to see Robbie at Milton Keynes a few years ago because I was about 6 months pregnant.

I spent most of the day crying because I missed it. I was suffering with spd though and didn't think I would be able to handle it.

Go and have a lovely time.

kayleigh · 14/09/2003 18:28

There is absolutely no question about it.
Go,go,go. I am green with envy.

jodee · 14/09/2003 18:52

Ghosty, get those tickets, NOW!!!

And you need a treat what with the rellies decending on you at Christmas!

Demented · 14/09/2003 22:43

Agree with everyone goooooooo!

Saw Robbie at Edinburgh this year and he was great, I am sure you will not be the only pg lady there, as EmmaTMG says there were a few who went into labour at Knebworth (12 I think, one gave birth there). If they are standing tickets perhaps one of those folding seat things that have three legs and can be easily carried would be of use, at least you would be able to take some of the weight off your legs during all the waiting about.

Duran Duran will be great too and just think at least you will not have to endure Kelly Osborne like we did!

Go, go, go!!!!!!!!

I WANT TO SEE ROBBIE AGAIN!

SofiaAmes · 14/09/2003 23:06

Hey I was dancing away in the dance tent at V2000 when I was 32 weeks pregnant. My ds (who I was pregnant with at the time) now has a healthy appreciation for drum and base. I also went to a whole slew of other concerts (used to be in the music business so get lots of free tickets) while pregnant. The only problems were the frequent loo trips (I pleaded pregnancy and didn't bother to wait in lines) and the fact the my ds developed an intense dislike for jangly guitar bands while in utero.

marthamoo · 14/09/2003 23:09

Ooh yes GO, definitely! All I did at 32 weeks was drag a load of four year olds through a wet and muddy forest in the name of education.

Would love to see DuranDuran..and as for Robbie...phwoaaaar. I am very jealous.

Simon Le Bon's a bit porky these days though.

sunchowder · 14/09/2003 23:28

Go Ghosty! Yes, do it! I went to see Rod Stewart and my DD stood up and starting dancing a few times "en utero", she loved it!

Forestfly · 14/09/2003 23:30

I went to a club because i was getting bored waiting for another contraction!
