Weight issue on notes

At my booking in appt with the midwife I apparently weighed 86.7 kilos! I know that was a good few kilos over what my scales said and it put my BMI at 31 - which is apparently obese. I'm quite happy to admit I can pinch an inch, but I only take a size 12 jeans. I protested at this weight, but she just smiled and put it on my notes anyway Shock.

Anyway, checked my weight after on my scales, and MIL's and I was right! Can't remember exactly what weight was, but anyway...

I'm now 24ish weeks gone and still nowhere near 86 kilos! Do I need to say something and get it changed? I'm just worried because I'm quite high risk and under consultant care because of complications and major PPH with DD and I don't want this balls-up to affect my choices or the birth or anything. He did mention it at my last appt - something about large women and large babies.

It could of course just be a matter of wounded pride Grin.

I would definetely get it amended on your notes as an error, especially as you are still not that weight! No point having them add in extra risk factors of obesity when you are not obese.

don't amend this as much it may hurt your pride... you would entitled to an extra dilligent care and extra tests / consultant appointments which is always a plus! Wink

What weight were you? If you're overweight anyway then the extra care would be useful, if this is hugely different then mention that the scales were wrong and you're not that weight now. Are they continuing to record your weight at the hospital? You're going to be under consultant care anyway because of your previous birth so there may not be that much difference in outcome.

My GP weighed me at half a stone lighter than my Weightwatchers meeting not 3 days previously (obviously stopped going once I discovered pregnancy!). I didn't tell...I feel I should I have done!

Thanks guys. I will mention it again to the midwife at my next appt and see if she thinks it will alter my care at all. Nobody has weighed me since, and I've avoided my scales until yesterday - hence sudden worry.

I didn't worry too much at the time because I figured I'd pile it on soon enough anyway Grin. But I appear to be doing quite well and I'm still only just over 82 kilos, and I guess that's a bit of a discrepancy...

Only hope she doesn't weigh me on dodgy scales again and write off my concerns as deluded wishful thinking!

Remember to wear light clothing! Daytime weight can be a bit higher than morning weight (few pounds, though, not several kilos).

I suggest that if you are weighed again and the result is more in line with your own weigh-in, that you just get that added to your notes. Then, if you want, pencil in by the first measurement something along the lines of "inaccurate - see weight on (date)"
