I can't remember what foods I should be avoiding from last time. Can someone remind me please, it's been 3 years and normal brain has not yet returned.Smile

Alcohol rules?
Peanuts?
Some cheeses?

I don't eat meat anyway.

What else?

no hard and fast rules on alcohol tbh, but i'd say low consumption wont be as dangerous as getting hammered.
Nuts are fine.
No mouldy or runny cheeses, although if you have to heating them might make them less dangerous

Have you been given the purple book by your midwife yet, that summarises the NHS advice.

Guidelines are here www.nhs.uk/Livewell/pregnancy/Pages/healthyeating.aspx

Basically no alcohol, peanuts are fine and not unpasturised or mould ripened (so brie, camembert and blue) cheeses. Be a bit more risk adverse than normal about anything that might give you food poisoning cos your immune system is less able to deal with it. Limit your caffeine intake. Some people won't have runny eggs, others are fine with them so long as they have the lion mark which means the chickens have been vaccinated against salmonella.

Some people make up have lots of rules about their diet in pregnancy. Mostly you're dealing with very very low risks or unproven consequences. You need to find a level of limitation you're happy with.

Havn't seen midwife yet. But ooops - did have a wee piece of stilton last week Blush. I was working on the basis that my sister in France was not told to stop eating anything.

Have no plans to get hammered! Was more thinking about sharing a bottle of ale with DH sometime (he is a cyclist, Sunday is riding day, barely drinking himself).

it really is a matter of personal judgement. I'm teetotal anyhow but I know my sister in law who is a doctor still had the occasional glass of wine when pregnant so if I drank I would probably do the same.

technically anything can kill us at any time in our life so it really is a matter of odds imo.
