How important is it to have mw appointments in the correct weeks?

I am 26 weeks pregnant with DC2 and under the local midwife care at the GP surgery. My midwife works fortnightly. I went to book my 28 week appointment and was told that the midwife won't be there that week so it will need to be the week before or after or I can see the GP.
I have a list of weeks which I should see the midwife in my file but nearly all of them will now fall on the weeks she doesn't work. As it is really just a matter of days from being one week to another, does it really matter? WWYD?

My midwife is only in the clinic once a week which means all my appts seem to fall when I am X weeks and 6 days. I have my 28 week appt on Tuesday but will be 28+6. Don't think it makes a huge diff to be honest, can't really say I've given it a thought.

I don't think it makes any difference - I was supposed to have one next week but I've had to put it off for two weeks as I'll be away. No one said anything and I'm not particularly bothered either. Mind you - I am healthy and have no problems (touch wood). If there is something wrong or you feel you need more monitoring I would push for an alternative.

As long as its every 2 weeks and things are going well thats fine. there is very little other than planning that goes for the exact even weeks.
ps i am an obstetrician in my spare time!

I don't think it's a biggie; certainly in my last pregnancy, whenever I saw the midwife we'd book an appointment for the next check, and when one of my checks was due in a week when she was on holiday, she offered me the choice of seeing her the previous/subsequent week or seeing another midwife.

Having said that, both times my EDD has been a Wednesday which is my midwife's clinic day so I see her at 16 weeks exactly etc, which is slightly pleasing to the anal side of my personality!

Thanks for all your replies. I will book in with the midwife on the alternate weeks. The gp is a bit unhelpful and messed up my paperwork at the beginning of my pregnancy so I would rather see the midwife.
I didn't have this problem with dc1 as the midwife had weekly clinics then but apparently due to the recession there is less demand so she is now fortnightly!

I don't think a week or so makes any difference. Most of my appointments are at the hospital but the clinic I need to go to is only every other week so I don't always go on exactly the right week. Also, when I last saw my community midwife she suggested a date for my next appointment. I said that might be difficult with work (I know they have to give me the time off but it would have been very inconvenient) so she said it would be fine to come either the week before or week after instead.

My midwife didnt have any appointments even though I tried to book early and as a result I will be 30 weeks at my 28 week check! Hoping she doesnt moan since it wan't my fault! The baby is wiggling about happily so hopefully everythings ok.

I was away and missed one MW appointment - went next week instead, absolutely no problem. Now she just tells me when to book the next sppointment and I go with that.
