Hands up those who had successful pregnancies after ectopics with tube removal?

Just could do with some "it will all be fine" reassurance I guess. Had my ectopic pregnancy and tube removed a few weeks ago so obviously not TTC for the requisite 3months but I guess am just starting to get a bit anxious about getting pregnant again and it working out this time (for the record have been pregnant 3 times- 1st was MMC at 10weeks, 2nd was DD whose birth was most horrific experience of my life and she was oxygen starved, then third was the ectopic. So partly am uber paranoid that I haven't yet got "full house" in the "my uterus hates me bingo" I seem be be unwillingly playing and I am lined up for a stillbirth or something equally devastating next time. :(

Aww Thandeka, you need a hug. You CAN do this!

I'll add my it will be fine experience after a tube removal (not ectopic though). I have 2 lovely DCs (and one MMC). Conceived naturally and quickly each time.

Have a friend who has a 9 month old after a traumatic ectopic the year before.

ethelina · 24/02/2011 13:28

Not me personally but my best friend had a ruptured ectopic (it ruptured on the operating table), tube was removed etc.

She had her DS 18 months later, he's now 4 years old. Smile

She had another ectopic pregnancy in the other tube less than a year later, but caught early and was given Methotrexate to get rid of it.

DD was born 14 months later. Smile

Not me, but a friend of mine had two dcs naturally conceived after tube removal.

Thandeka · 24/02/2011 13:33

yeah mine ruptured too. Not sure when but was the morning of surgery anyhow as I was bleeding internally. DD is now one and we did't want too big an age gap but I guess we will have to take whatever age gap we are given! (Got pregnant with the ectopic literally 1st month of trying whereas DD took 6months (got pregnant imediately after MMC with no period in between) so am hoping that means am fairly fertile....)

Hi there

I had an ectopic in September where I lost my right tube. I am now nearly 9 weeks pregnant and very nervous. My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 6 weeks, my second pregnancy was my DD now aged 6 who was born 6 weeks early, my third pregnancy was ectopic and now here we are - worried sick - as my body doesn't seem to like pregnancies very much!

NotSoPukeyMummy · 24/02/2011 14:03

A friend of mine has two DCs after having this. One conceived by IVF, the other naturally.

Hi.

Sorry to hear about your ectopic Sad

Ok so i've been through the mill myself too with regards to pregnancies.

First pregnancy fine, second pregnancy my DD was stillborn Sad , third pregnancy emergency c-section due to abruption & hemorrhage, fourth born at 34wks, fifth also born at 34wks, next came my miscarriages. I then had 4 miscarriages & then an ectopic.

The hospital misdiagnosed the ectopic as another miscarriage so i had a d&c & sent home. Only that i felt that things were right & contacted the hospital was i given another scan (still saw nothing) and a blood test (only cos i insisted). I went to a&e that night where the gyne doc didn't believe me it was ectopic.
Anyway i was bleeding internally as well as bleeding out too & in terrible pain.... i was about 8wks by that time.

Anyway so..... i didn't think i could get pregnant again as i lost my left tube & my right ovary doesn't work. My consultant said that sometimes the right tube will reach over & pick up the egg as its released from the opposite side....... i thought he was just talking rubbish as so many of the hospital staff failed me & just wanted to make me happy.

I had the ectopic in December 2009 & i was pregnant in April 2010 Shock .
Considering everything that had to happen for me to get pregnant i was totally & utterly shocked... as well as being scared & happy.
My gorgeous little boy is lying here with me now..... my little miracle.

I wasn't told i had to wait before ttc again so started as soon as i had my next cycle after the ectopic.

Good luck for when you do start trying again, hopefully you won't have to try for too long.

Sorry for the long post.

not an ectopic but had right tube and ovary removed at 21 due to a growth. went on the have 4 children very successfully, did take varying amounts of time to get pg, but they are all healthy and were fine when born.

moregranny · 24/02/2011 18:32

Yes my neice last year and today she has given birth to a 7lb 7oz baby girl :)

SarahScot · 24/02/2011 18:36

A friend lost a tube after an ectopic and was pregnant again within a few months resulting in a healthy DD.

cocoachannel · 24/02/2011 18:47

Hi.

Sorry to hear about your experience. I had my left tube removed on 20th February last year. I am currently 40+1!

I lost my left tube. We waited the three months and were very lucky that I got pregnant again straight away.

The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust forums have been a great source of support, not just immediately after the EP but throughout thus pregnancy. The boards are moderated by midwives and trained volunteers who can answer your Qs as well as getting support from others who have been through ectopic pregnancy.

Good luck!

Not ectopic, but I lost my left ovary and tube in August (emergency surgery because of a ruptured cyst). Waited the obligatory three periods and then got pregnant at our first attempt in October. Very surprised! Very happy!

Without going into too much detail, I also had 'my uterus hates me' syndrome so I have to admit that I've spent all of this pregnancy panicking at every tiny niggle, but I can confirm that the docs aren't lying when they say it's still possible. (So far anyway, so far = so good!)

From what I understand, the remaining tube can pick up eggs from either ovary so you could still get pregnant every month (not just every other month as i originally assumed!)

Also, if you tell your docs how worried you are you should get extra help in your next pregnancy. E.g. because I only have one tube I had an early scan to check the sac was where it should be.

Good luck Smile

Thankyou for all the replies. Very helpful! I did write a reply to anotherattempt but it got eaten somehow but sounds like lots of other ladies have "my uterus hates me" syndrome. Seriously wish we could wave a white flag and have UN peace talks with it so it just does what it is supposed too.

Yay to all the post ecoptic babies currently safely growing in the womb and those who have popped. If those babies wouldn't mind having a word with my eggs and DH's sperm about meeting in the correct place and growing to term properly- that would be lovely.

I didn't have an eptopic, however I do only have one tube, one was removed at 11, anyhow, I have a perfectly annoying DS of 5, one on the way, 2 m/c's however, all were normal, I do find myself very protective over my remaining one thou.

tvfriend · 26/02/2011 09:04

Not me (other complications) but a friend had an ectopic pregnancy and a tube removed and went on to have 2 DS's- both conceived quite quickly. She'd about to try for a third. Good luck Smile.
