Hi, I'm 13+2 and I'm going for my Flu jab this afternoon.
I'm just wondering first of all where do you have it, bum or arm?
Also did anyone feel poorly afterwards?
I know it's not an active virus but I've had mixed reactions from friends.

in my arm and was too sore to sleep on for 2 nights and just a bit bruised after that. Well worth it, my DH had flu and developed pleurisy. He was off sick for 2 weeks. I didn't get it; I think the jab protected me.

My friend didn't have the jab, she and her DH got flu and baby arrived 3 weeks early while she was still ill. They said her temperature caused by the flu probably brought on labour. They're both fine but labouring or being pg with flu doesn't sound fun.

it didnt make me feel ill or anything

but for a few days after my arm really really hurt

emmah194 · 22/02/2011 13:23

I had my jab in the arm. I felt fine for about 12 hours afterwards, just a sore arm, but overnight I was in a lot of discomfort as I ached from head to toe and struggled to sleep as a result. Apparently this is a common reaction to your first flu jab but not everyone gets it. I was absolutely fine by the next day.

PrettyVacant as you've said it's not a live vaccine, so having the jab will not cause you to develop flu afterwards. I felt fine after mine, just a slightly sore arm (which probably answers your question about where I had it as well!).

Secondtimelucky · 22/02/2011 13:35

I had an aching arm for about 24/48 hours, but no other effects.

The jab was, as you've guessed from the above, in my arm!

Thanks for the replies Ladies, off for it now.
At least I won't be worrying the doc by undoing my jeans. Grin

Had it in the arm, hardly felt it go in and by the time I got home I couldn't even see where it had gone. No soreness, nothing at all to indicate I'd had it!

How did it go?

PrettyVacant1 · 22/02/2011 18:12

In and out in 10 seconds.
There's a lump where he injected but it's not sore.
Thanks for asking Wigeon :)

No side effects at all, not even sore arm
